(RWBY is made in America, not Japan, therefore it's not considered a true anime even though it's in the same style of art and animation.) I had trouble deciding on ten though, so even if you remove all the RWBY folks from my list there are still twelve non-RWBY folks. It can't be helped! Did we get all the anime lovers of FFXIAH!? I also like Tachibana, Marika from the Nisekoi series (she hasn't appeared in the anime yet but she's awesome in the manga. Too bad SHAFT really *** up Nisekoi =( )

Granted I'm only familiar with maybe half the stuff people have listed (which I consider to be a good thing!), I am nonetheless intrigued by many choices. Well, I'm actually not the slightest bit interested when the primary character (e.g., Vash the Stampede) is the one chosen, but all the rest probably have interesting reasons.

All animation is anime to the Japanese, it's just what they say instead of animation. If they want to distinguish Japanese animation from foreign animation they use "Japanese animation". The word animation (or anime), refers to ALL forms of animation in Japan.
Writing it アニメ is simply because it's a loanword, hence the katakana. I'd have some comment about liking them crazy, but I did include a female mad scientist who is probably a multi-dimensional goddess of immeasurable power in my list, so glass houses and such.
