Unlinked Handles, Can't Log In, Wtf SE?!

Did SE break the game or did I?

I go to log in today on Alarial and I get a "There is an unlinked handle, do you want to link this handle to your account'?

I say sure, and it says "too bad ***, you have 8 handles linked already!"

Now the thing is, I only have 3 active on that account..

So I go to the handle page and unlink the blank ones that SHOULDN'T be there, and then try again -> Doesn't work. Says I still have 8 handles, and thus can't link another.

The same thing happened to one of my mule accounts. Except he actually had enough space. And when I logged in, all his old mules (that I had deleted) were re-activated...........

So the best I can gather, is SE/someone re-activated all of Alarial's mules, and since there are 9 total (active and canceled), it always shows one as being unlinked, and won't allow us to link it. - and thus not log in.

I went to the SE account page and it only shows me having my 3 main toons linked/activated. SO what the f*ck is going on?

Fixed it so I could log in by linking the excess handle to a dummy account. But doesn't explain why it had re-activated all the other deleted mules to begin with.

Hold on isn't it because the event is up and active?

Happened to me as well, if it is because of events, we are getting extra mules.... FOR FREE?!?!?!? It's a sign of the apocalypse.

Yep. Same issue here. Seems to be a never ending loop where they are linking content IDs to your default handle. Trying through the SE account management site. Only SE could *** up giving away something for free...

Ya it was really terribly implemented, because it auto-activates all your handles, so you can't really unlink them. Best you can do is make a dummy account to link the excess handles to, if you're like me and had more than 8 over the years.

If you've run into this, and just to expand on what Neo is saying, since I'm an idiot and didn't get it at first, here's the simple instructions:

1) Log in to PO.
2) In the top left, click on your avatar and it brings up the Handle List.
3) Hit the button marked "Create New Handle"
4) Type "SEisabunchofmorons" or whatever you wanna call it, "Dummy" works too.
5) Click "Yes"
6) Hit "No"
7) Click on your new Dummy Handle
8) Click "Link"
9) Select each blank handle ID that currently has your Main Handle next to it and hit "yes" when it asks if you want to relink it to the new handle.
10) Repeat for all the floating handles.
11) Back out and log in.
12) Enjoy.

Actually instead of complain, why you guys just take this opportunity to remove items from these "dead" or "unwanted" characters and toss the items on the auction house ? that would be a big help for the new players out there who have trouble finding low level stuff to use... lol

Ok sweet I'm not going batshit crazy. I crashed last night on my main while farming some stuff and it was giving me these same errors just trying to log back in.

I almost thought for a second I was hacked somehow and someone was trying to *** with my handle stuff.

Yeah I ended up having to make a second handle and link the random crap to the new handle. It's probably from that first mog bonanza ever I literally bought all the mule spaces out lol.

That was hella-stupid. Glad this is coming to light with others. I was really spooked for a sec lol.

Also to follow up on this. I deleted all those mules and deactivated the content ID's a really long time ago. It still made me link all the blank ID's from the deleted slots. I can now for free make all those mules again as the create character button is lit up.

So this is actually ill-informed.

I had the game freak out on me each time I've logged in but since I have less than 8, it's not prevented me from playing. At least so far ^^;


I think the problem with this is:

A. Limited AH slots and short window for it to sell.

B. Time. Time you spend to put it on sale or deal with non-sales.

C. It all gets sent back anyway!

Also, most people would have cleared out their old mules long ago before they canceled those handles anyways.

I had so many inactive characters it took up 4 handles to link them all lol.

Glad it wasn't just me peeved at this.

im obviously doing something wrong here, i have no content id to even link ***too, anyone have suggestion?
