I'm sad i didn't think of the final resting place thing before i quit, im just standin in friggin adoulin by a Waypoint i think in some ugly *** gear as COR/BLM :(

Edit: If i were to fix that tho and have an actual spot.. i'd probably dig out my White Mage AF it being my very first job and main for the first 2 years i played and go out to Xarcabard on the cliff over looking the slope infront of Castle Zvahl.. see the lights for the last time. I always enjoyed that spot and the music, brings back alot of old memories helping friends and showing them the interesting stuff like that in the game.

I'm somewhere in aldouin... don't know where... havin too much fun on XIV YEAHHH BUDDY!

This.

Although this thread is making me sad I didn't do something else. Maybe log out with Prishe and Ulmia? They kinda seemed outcast and Prishe's story always made me kinda emo "I'm trapped in the body of a child and will never grow old.... but i'll never have friends because of it".

That or take Ember back to Dadagamawhatever's spine so he could be with mommy and daddy. :/

For me FFXI is like smoking, trying to quit but always crawl back more or less ungracefully. If I were to quit permanently, I'd pick Pso'Xja of course, for being my zone. I have no choice here of course :D

If I was still on Phoenix it'd be next to Elkcir, she is the most famous npc of the server.

In general though I have a special spot in Port Jeuno where I spent years everytime I was waiting on my friends, it's no wonderful place, but it just reminds me of all the good memories I shared with them, because every adventure started from there where I was waiting.

I never expected to leave the game when I did....

I took a few months break, to see what road FF11 was heading with the new Lvl caps.
Sadly, I didn't like the road they took with FF11......

I stayed up to date by reading in here & playing on my friend's account to see all the content myself until 2011.

The moment I really said "good bye" was when I deleted all my macros pages.......so.....

My resting place was in the Mog House, which is fitting for all the hours i spent there chatting, crafting, thinking, planning, waiting for end game event, looking at every MH in each city, looking for party and etc.

I have actually done this once... and then came back a month later. In that time I have come to think of one other place, but the result would be the same. I before had logged out in Rabao, right on the shore with my 2nd character; my main character's husband. The zone was special to me as my BF controlled my 2nd character so we could get married in game and Rabao was where we had spent our honeymoon watching the fireworks from the Summer Breeze Festival. The other zone I had thought of was up in Sky on Byakko's side on the steps with the broken pillar as it was where I had completed my ultimate goal of obtaining Gungnir.

Either way; Luscia would take her final knee on DRG with her Gungnir while wearing AF3 hands, feet and legs, Twilight Mail and Dandy Specs; and her beloved husband and wyvern would be at her side.

This was a tribute video I made when I quit the first time;

As Aelius did, I too created a story for Kojo's end despite logging out in my MH and just never logging in again...

After nine long years of searching, many battles, aiding two nations, defeating various evils and stopping many evil plans, Kojo finally got his hands on a first edition Mithra Gone Wild, the issue with Naja Salaheem and Nana Mhigo's Mithra-on-Mithra photo shoot. Upon obtaining this magazine of legend, he went into his Mog House for some well deserved rest. He has not been seen since...

The end.

If we go by the place where I spent an inordinate amount of time, I'd probably have logged out in Sea Serpent's Grotto. It's not pretty or even all that interesting, but I had my fun down there years ago before SE cracked down.

Had I been worrying about where I last logged out, though, I'd probably go to where I often went if idling: Ru'Aun Gardens. If I was feeling ambitious, I'd drag myself to Byakko's island, but most any place would do. I always liked the look of the cermet buildings and sky-floating gardens. Mostly, though, I have always loved the music for the zone. Back quite a long time ago, not engaging meant you never heard battle music, so I remember epic fights against the four shijin while listening to an incredibly calm track. I suppose the big thing, though, is just that it was such an accomplishment to get access to sky that first time.

Which was almost 10 years ago now. Yeesh.

Last year around September I took a break with my best friend. We had spent the couple of weeks leading up to it just fishing out in Talaca together, and both logged out hoping to return together by January.

Well time passed they were unable to venture back to the game, I did because I didn't wanna tell my LS that I had changed my mind and wasn't going to come back. Time passed and my friend got deathly ill and passed away, and a few weeks after they passed away I couldn't bring myself to play the game anymore and went back to Talaca Cove and logged out where we last logged together.

I doubt I could ever bring myself to play the game again >.> my motivation died when they passed away, mostly because daily they would ask me how I'm doing in the game what I'm up to and what goals have I set that I aimed to accomplish.

I wouldn't have ever completed my Mythic it wasn't for them wanting to know what I was up to, that and we had started it together about 3 years ago and had been working on it, on and off.

Wow...how sad. :(

I've been playing FFXI since 2002. Started after my mum bought me FFXI for the PS2, I evantually upgraded to desktop and played there ever since.

Shortly after I started playing, my mum started playing with me. My original toons name was "Gordel" and my mums was "Gordelsmom". We played on Asura and went through the changes until September 2, 2005, when my mom passed away from lung cancer. I quit for a year and eventually came back due to the memories we had together. I miss my mom every day. Now that FFXIV has come out, I have been sad as of late. The servers will be shutting down over the next few years and all those memories will be gone.

Where I parked Gordel at for a final location was Valkrum Dunes, where my mom and I leveled up so many jobs together. I was on my Thief in Lv 67 gear. That was my THFs level when my mom passed away.

This game was filled with memories and even though it is a game, it has been a huge part of my life and me growing up. Thank you Final Fantasy XI and the thousands of people I've met through my adventures on Asura and Odin.

Sincerely,
Gordel

This is Me, standing behind my mom and my mom in the center several months after she was diagnosised with lung cancer.

I haven't entirely given up on ffxi yet, though currently I'm pretty deeply into ffxiv. When I do go, I'm going to log out in West Ronfaure. The music, the landscape, the backdrop of the walls of San d'Oria just seem to be the place to end. I still have fond memories of when I started playing and dozing off (I worked night shift at the time and would often fall asleep at the comp 'cause I was so addicted to this damn game XD) to the music and sound of rustling leaves in Ronfaure. I've always had a soft spot for that zone.
