Yeah I didn't really get into FFVIII.
It was the chick flick of FFs. You definitely needed a lot of patience and right mindset to appreciate it at all.

I admit, sitting there Drawing magic from enemies (and bosses!) was boring, but the game was lots of fun for me. < .<
And don't get me started on the Gunblade. We crossed that bridge already ~_~
But it was awesome to get the Lionheart in disk one!
Junction made ***too easy. All you had to do was get 100 Waters on STR and you one-shot everything for a large chunk of the game.
And technically X-2 was the chick flick of FFs. You totally didn't want to watch any of it, but you know the cuddling/foreplay/sex (gameplay) would pay off. :P

I actually enjoyed playing Triple Triad. Except for that *** queen of cards that would randomly change the rules, or you'd go into a different region where the rules would *** you over.

9 was great, my OCD made me learn every single skill though, which was a pain.

Agreed. Learning passive abilities and spells from gear and being able to customize them once learned was sheer brilliance.

Same here. Most people pick on the negative aspects of VIII and don't pick on the negative aspects of other FF's.
I've never understood it. VIII is hated simply because it's not VII.
Some people have legitimate issues with the game, whilst the rest simply don't like it because they think VII is the end-all be-all.
Ask the majority of people who hate VIII which FF they played first. Most will say VII.
VIII had it's issues, the Draw system being one (I don't see the issue with Junction, and the GF Learn system was incredibly cool) but the core game is there and good. The story line may be a bit Cliché but it's no more so than IV V and VII. It's the fact that 'Love' is one of the main aspects of the game that people call it a chick flick, they seem to forget that the main issue in X was Love also.
But like I Say, biased people will be biased.

For reasons I have forever been unable to explain, I liked 12.
It was odd that Vaan was pretty much useless and tagged along for the ride. But the other characters grew on me, and the war themed storyline I enjoyed because it deviated from romance for once, even if it was pretty much Star Wars on FF.
Also the free range environment and gambits made me feel like I was playing a single player version of FF11, which also made me like it.
I dunno. One of those strange exceptions I guess.

V, IX and X had the best systems imo.
