Yeah, would be nice to have someone who has experience and more knowledge in such a field without having to pay for a trainer. But I'm just gonna start with common sense and testing my will power with nutrition and go from there.

I think I'll have one gigantic italian dinner fest before committing to such an endeavor. I want to indulge in pizza, lasagna, scampi and breadsticks and garlic and wine and butter before having to say goodbye to all of it for who knows how many months ; ;

It's why America is fat. :x

Fat food is cheap food.
Organic food is expensive.

I've always wondered about that. For the longest time I was like "OMG CONSPIRACY THEORY" when it came to unhealthy garbage foods being dirt cheap and the natural healthy stuff being uber expensive.

I wondered why would it cost less to ADD pesticides and preservatives into produce than it would be to NOT use them.

Then I kinda realized that they probably keep a higher net profit on foods that have a longer shelf life than those that would naturally die out much faster than the rate people buy them. Hence more expensive organic stuff. But still, it makes me wonder...

Reality of it is, cheap food is only cheap in the short term. Healthy foods are expensive short term, inexpensive long term when you look at the health complications that would arise from eating preservative laced dog ***, frozen TV dinners for 20 some years.

But from what my friend's room mate went through, it sounds like an ideal thing to do is to not take 3 large meals per day but rather space it out over 5 or so smaller meals so your energy is expended throughout your day rather than having huge calorie dumps every third of your day.

you've got the right idea here

but your protein/carb ratios are going to be as important/more important than number/size of meals

Yeah, I'm trying to think back to health class ala 9th grade and how they explained which forms of energy (proteins, carbs, fats) were consumed more quickly and which were more prone to being stored for later use etc. etc.

i'm 99.9% sure bloodbath would confirm

that what you learned in 9th grade health class

is a major contributing factor to most americans looking the way they do

true, there are a bunch of factors that contribute to our overall obesity

but if you are trying to get in shape, the old food pyramid-based diet that recommends massive amounts of carbs and minimal protien is going to be a major hindrance, even with good excercise habits

Well I dunno about that. I'm looking more at general knowledge of what types of consumed energy have utilization/storage rates.

Edit: But yeah, the old school food pyramid is total *** now that I actually reflect upon it.

and i do know about that

i know that it is much, much easier for your body to convert both sugars and the simpler starches into stored fat than it is for it to convert excess protein into fat

not to say that cutting out carbs out altogether is a good idea unless you are a bodybuilder prepping for a show

Yeah, I'm not trying to transform myself, but rather reach a balance in nutrition and exercise habits to generally be more healthy. Perhaps even gain some more stamina in the process would be great.

I was talking to someone the other day..
I'm starting to wonder when I'm going to get carpel tunnel.

Ive been on a computer since the age of 11.. and I'm almost 22.. And my wrists typically hurt by the end of a day.

Hmm.. =333
