Nope nothing changed, I was in Abyssea til 3am last night, 9 hours later it's all going wrong! It eventually gets me through to the FF page but it takes a good half hour and about 5 connection attempts.

I don't have time for farming, and at this time I have gil and nothing to spend it on. I could use it for COR, DRK, BLU, and all the subjobs I still need to level. Would be a good asset to have, but I don't know if I want to dump 1.1 mil on it :/

Well in my opinion (and of course is just my opinion) If you can use for multiple jobs then by all means it IS a worthwhile investment. If you will use it consistently whether or not it falls in value will have no concern (or shouldn't) because you won't want to get rid of it. Especially if you cannot/unwilling to/ get bored with farming the PCA. Then again, you can always grab some friends and do the BCNM. I know myself I have like 600+ Beastmen Seals sitting in storage and I no longer do any BCNM's.

No way I'd use that for penta lmao.
Just be lazy and use Haciman gloves and Shura Kabuto for penta. O and Byakko's instead of Shura along with potent(need sentinel) belt over buccaneers and ulthalems ring over flame.
