You see, most people look at being king as an easy task. You get to sit on a throne all day, collect taxes, make up rules, break the rules, torture people, order people to do things, build ice castles, melt ice castles, start tire fires, claim you didn't start the tire fires when investigated by the NEWB (Ni Environmental & Weather Bureau), disband the NEWB, and spend every single gold coin in the coffers on crazy *** projects for the "kingdom" that are actually just fun stuff you want to do.

You see, there is great responsibility and pressure. Every action you take is scrutinized. Every breath you take, every move you make, people watching you. Go out for a night of drinking and burn down a small village? People flip their ***. It's like you can't have fun any more!
All that stress leads to early male pattern baldness, rapid graying, a loss of personality, and a sudden urge to eat more swiss cheese. It's a tough life.
You thought that was it for the side effects, oh but how wrong you are. Every morning, for no inexplicable reason, my shoes are in reverse order. That's correct, the left shoe is to the right of the right shoe. Do you know how difficult it is to discern that at the crack of 11:47am when I'm expected to "please get out of bed now so you have time to eat breakfast before your lunch arrives."?! Impossible I say!
So why do it? Perhaps it's a love for this kingdom and its people. Or perhaps it's a more realistic reason such as the absurd salary I've provided to myself while draining the economy. Either way, I'm here to stay.

And in olden days I'd have taken the whole day off and *** about, but right now I've got a long weekend coming up next week and I'm trying to conserve PTO for future shenanigans and hijinks. I've sort of grown away from my paternal side of the family, not because of any hard feelings or anything but for reasons of geography (I live far away) and property (we lost the lease on the land upon which our family camp used to sit).
They've established a new camp and I'm going up for a long weekend with the in August, which is awesome, but I've got to preserve time off to make that long weekend happen and still make my normal long vacations work (Buffett concert, Thanksgiving/Anniversary, New Year's).
