Well, now I'm curious. Was Shumer more upset about the commentary about her weight or the "spending the night" comment? I need to read up on this. I also should have not stayed up past 10:00 last night.

It's probably about equal and probably not that big a deal but taking offense to your own material is kinda odd.

Yeah. That's the exact piece I was driving and listening to that time, actually.

Let's see...who else do I like right know...

Kelly McCarron I like but I'm not sure she has the kind of material that lends itself to a lengthy career. I could be wrong, though. I guess we'll see.

Dave Foley has excellent stand-up, it's unfortunate he only does it when he has to as a means of getting money. I'm sure television and movies are more lucrative but he excels at stand-up.

In a similar vein, Bobcat *** Goldthwait, of all people, did a bit in the past few years that was on Netflix and it was really great.

I haven't listened/seen a lot of his stuff, but Al Madrigal has had some stuff come up on my Pandora stand-up station that's had me dying.

Well, that's thing about comedians most people don't realize; they are the darkest people on the planet. Most of them come from unfunny situations. Groucho Marx said it best and I am paraphrasing, "I think the reason why I know what's funny is because my entire life has been unfunny".

PARKER we need a sound effect of a damp towel hitting the floor...kind of like a mic drop but with a watery splat at the end...

and then I also need a MEANWHILE.... AT THE LEGION OF DOOM!!!! from superfriends circa 1978 or so...

it should only be... like... seven seconds long

omg /templerub the phone interviews today...

I'm looking for someone to replace debra and, no offense fellow old people, but I need someone more technically savvy than me...

and then this lady Alexandra...

Hello, Alexandra?

Alex

strike one
kid...look if you don't want to be called by your full name don't put it on your application. and don't *** correct people on the phone I don't care if they butcher your name to ribbons, your reply should be yes hello how can I help you?

but no... and then she is all dodging my questions like a politician... look I don't want you to tell me how great you are I want to talk to one of your former clients/employers and get their opinion of your work ethic etc...

can I have someone call you?

no... what's the point of that? they are going to tell me exactly what you tell them to tell me....

I'm sorry but we are only considering candidates with references.

later....alexemail can I still have someone call you?

lol

Abrupt moments of stoic darkness or multi-layered, subtle scalpel incision jokes are the best. There are too many slap-sticky people in the world who need to be cued via laughtrack or have their hands held through jokes.

On the other hand, you have Louis CK where he's funny, then I feel suspect for some of the bad stuff, and then I feel like I'm listening to the confessions of someone disguising felonies as jokes and I get worried.

That's what I like about Louis C.K. Saw him live twice, Paul F. Tompkins once. Don't want to admit to Nick Swardson, since he's really not my cup of tea. LOL!

Nick Swardson is like a college friend who won't let go of that mindset and makes you feel better about being slightly less maladjusted.

Edit:
The only comic I've seen live is...

wait for iiiit...

Bill Cosby.

And he was great.

And now that great memory is sullied.

Happened across an article on a sidebar on a news website about the Glamour thing.

Her point is pretty legit, actually. Won't dive any further into the feelings minefield of the topic, but I get what she's saying and it seems valid.

Your beliefs are irrelevant. Cathulhu will drive you mad regardless of your beliefs. He controls the great laser pointer in the sky and he will use it to toy with all.

was a pain to find, but I own this shirt.

https://shirt.woot.com/

Quote:
Meow-ho, Meow-ho

No sailor wants to face the cat

Aye, lads, ‘tis true. Weird beasties dwell beneath these waves. Take it from me; I know. Sure’n I’ve but one eye in me skull, but it’s seen plenty. Why, once I caught a glimpse of a fish-headed mermaid! Can ye imagine? From the waist down, she had the standard fish-tail, like ye’d expect—but then she had a fish body from the waist up, too! I mean, mermaids are already a pretty rare sight. But to see one with a fish torso and head? Ye probably won’t see her like even if ye sail a hundred lifetimes.

Ah, but strange as she were, she weren’t nearly so strange as the deep-sea kitties said to haunt these waters. They calls ‘em the Katten! Ye’re right to fear these ferocious marine felines, lads. I’ve heard from old tars who swear a Katten is big as schooners, fast as the wind, and playful as a baby with a set of car keys. If a Katten takes a whim to, she’ll bat a ship to matchsticks just for the pleasure of it. ‘Tis a horrible way to go, bein’ toyed with for hours ‘til ye’re too battered to be interestin’ to her.

They say ye almost never hear one comin’ until it’s upon ye. Then it’s too late. The one exception, o’course, is the Katten they call “Miss Chesterton”—a particularly cruel shorthair to whom the crew of the Zephyr managed to affix their ship’s bell before she killed them all and left them on Davy Jones’s porch, atop Davy Jones’s galoshes. ‘Tis a gesture that grosses Davy Jones out, but he understands it’s meant as a show of affection.

Aye, they say Miss Chesterton favors this very latitude. And she’s known to prowl for ships when the skies are calm, just like tonight, lads. Your only hope, if y’hear her approaching, is to rustle a paper bag loud as ye can. The noise sometimes spooks her. But enough prattle. Listen, will ye? See if y’hear her bell a-janglin’ as she stalks ye…

Wear this shirt: in the water, it’s fine. Not all cats hate it.

Don’t wear this shirt: in the company of sea dogs, lest ye be chased.

This shirt tells the world: “Here be kyttens.”

We call this color: Asphalt-Water Creature
