Looked at a house last night that we think might just be the one, though we're scheduled to look at another handful tomorrow night to be safe/have backup plans.
So somewhere between excited and scared shitless.
Also, listening to music that makes me really want to start playing more again, which is another reason I'm eager to move into my own place that isn't a townhouse. I really like my current apartment, but having neighbors on the other side of the wall makes drumming really hard, especially when he's a Purple Heart WWII vet that you really want to be nice to and not disturb.

Yeah. That's one of the draws of this place. Neighbors appear as decent as we're going to be able to tell without actually living there, and the place also comes with an ideally-sized yard with a very well-kept, tall fence.
And as my dear departed grandpa Ralph opined: good fences make good neighbors.

Afraid I'm going to have to sidestep that particular bit of advice. I'll probably regret it, but the ranches we've looked at in our range have simply not impressed.
Edit: That said, the place we've got our fingers crossed about (it still needs an inspection and all the closing rigmarole) does have a lovely main floor bedroom, so I can always just be that crazy old hermit who only lives on one floor of his house.
Supposed to have left this morning for deer camp and it was decided that "nope, we'll leave after pouring a slab tomorrow!' If it wasn't the family business, I'd just say *** it and call in sick and leave.

I'd rather go pour it today, come home and leave out tomorrow morning. My dad makes calls on work and he constantly has things in a complete and total clusterfuck.

Yeah, we've got a pretty good handle on that stuff. We've already walked away from a couple that we originally thought were winners because of some major red flags on walk through, one being very serious water/foundation issues. =\
