morning all. may it find you in the gods' graces.

I've got nothing too interesting. chasing kids in circles, eso, & some stupid documentary. otherwise it's all seeming rather familiar. except there's a huge grey patch in my beard... what a odd creature you are life. I am having a powerful craving for canadian whiskey.

Has anyone else watched 'Mad Max: Fury Road' yet? I fail to see the big stink about it.

I've seen it.
I think people who watch it who don't like it. Some say they find it boring or not as exciting as what it sounded like it would be. another thing is there isn't 'much' character development. Max hardly talks and relationships between characters are kinda meh. The movie is more about furiosa than max
That movie is all about the theme. I'll agree with your assessment. The character development was terrible and relationships were nil. What saved it for me beyond just the abject violence was the underlying theme that women can be strong protagonists and just because there is a male and a female protagonist doesn't mean they need to be bumping uglies by the end of the film. That to me makes the whole film worth it.

Oh, also the tone. It's dry and dark and foreboding as they have to constantly watch their back as the sounds of drums and guitars waft from the distance. That was really neat.

Also, this guy:
And this:

See, I thought it would have been a catch-22. If you're going to throw up a film where women are a commodity, then it would make sense that you would have to have a woman protagonist. Could you imagine the uproar would it have been centralized around Max?

That aside, since we're on the topic, the costume choices to indicate people's role in the hierarchy of a post-apocalyptic world were interesting. Definitely not utilitarian.

Can we talk about Lieutenant nipple chain guy? (Can't find a pic.)

Actual spoiler!!!

What a twist!

So I had to go to the doctor's for a follow up.

A "drop in 3 months from your visit. Don't call to schedule, just come in and we'll run the follow-up testing."

They give me a follow-up sheet with the office hours and phone.

So today being 3 months to the day, and the follow-up sheet they gave me citing Fridays 8-11 as office hours, I swing by.

Office is closed.

I try calling. Even if closed, most physicians' offices leave messages and office hours on the office voicemail.

Friday no longer has office hours.

You mother *** have my e-mail address, phone number, and know to remind me I need to follow-up, but you can't call to tell me ahead of time you changed hours, so mind when you take off to come in!?

Three hours of PTO burned.

Great start to my weekend.

*grumble*

Our dentist office has the most random hours. 8-5 Monday, 9-2:30 Tue/Wed/Thur, 8-10 then 12-2 Friday. They seem to change without warning or logic, too. I had an appointment scheduled on labor day last year, which neither me nor their receptionist realized wasn't a work day.

It's specifically medical leave time I use.

I just call it "pto" for short because, well, it is.

Some places just give you one big lump for sick/personal/vacation/etc.

It was just easier that way for me to type it!

I'm skipping lunch entirely. I took that extra time I had this morning and made myself some eggs and toast, and I'm saving the rest of my intake for the day for grilled burgers and maybe some whiskey tonight.

Mmm. You know, joke as you may, if he channeled his inner Bill & Ted persona and aged it with 30 years of drinking, killing, and heartbreak -- and developed an entirely-too-deep friendship with a bird -- it could work.

Honestly, Freddie Prinze Jr. could do it I bet. Really well.

His voice acting as Iron Bull in DA:I is fantastic. I was blown away when I found out it was him. Pulled off Vega in ME3 really well too.
