ok...someone is about to be peeled like a banana...

We had a nitrate in the water warning earlier this spring so I have been sticking a couple of bottles of water in the refrigerator at work every day. Just regular generic bottled water....they're like half liters (16.9 oz)

ok so someone went out and bought the same brand but in tiny 10 oz and they are sticking their two bottles on the shelf above mine and then taking my larger bottle and leaving their little ones...

I will find you... and when I do I will rig your office chair up to the wall outlet you dirty son of a ***....

We tried pickling some cucumbers we grew last year, they're actual pickling cucumbers. I found a recipe that used whole garlic and red peppers, cause I like spicey stuff... They were awful, completely inedible, for some reason. They weren't too spicey or too vinegary, just tasted terrible. I was so bummed, and I can't even bring myself to eat pickles at all now. It's like some kind of PTSD.

We tried the same last year since we had a slew of cucumbers. It was a bust. We tried using those pre-made pickle packet seasonings.

I assume you mean "incubating life." Otherwise your question really isn't appropriate.

Along those lines, any aversions? The wife didn't get any cravings, but she had a couple of aversions (there was a six week period where I couldn't even talk about meat without getting the stink-eye).

I crave the things I can't eat while pregnant. Quite the Gordian knot! I subdue it with milkshakes.

You mean stuff like alcohol or are there certain types of food a woman shouldn't eat while pregnant? I wasn't even aware of foods like that.

EDIT: Yeah I know you can't typically eat alcohol, so maybe hash cookies, idk lol.

Fried food, basically. During the first, I puked in my grocery cart after passing the deli and smelling fried chicken. That's the only thing I can't handle. Then again, I don't eat a lot of fried food, so that may be a factor.

There's a fairly extensive list, depending on how paranoid you feel like being. We were on the older side of the range when we started, so we cranked the dial to MAXIMUM PARANOIA and she actually restricted her diet fairly seriously.

She's a trooper, because no way could I have that kind of dietary willpower for a year (pregnancy plus nursing).

I've been on a diet for like a year and a half at this point and I don't even care to go back to eating junk food. I do like the occasional hamburger or cookies, but I've changed my eating habits so much, I rarely even think about indulgences.

Ah ok.

Yeah dietary changes are a pain to do, especially if it's drastic, like going from fast food to fresh veggies or something like that.

I found it best to slowly do it.

Also found out if you don't eat fried food especially, but also junk food in general and stick to what I've been doing for awhile now, broccoli, raw mushrooms, berries, walnuts (no salt), etc. and baked chicken every few days or so, after doing that for I think it was 6-7 months, had like Arby's one day... wow. My body was not happy at all. So while it's good to eat healthy obviously, if you don't have fried/junk food once in awhile it really wrecks havoc on your system when you do. Or at least that's what I 'discovered.'

I have plenty of indulgences because I'm not on a diet, I've made a total nutritional shift. I've had fast food *thinks* twice in the past six months or so (and it was Taco Bell both times). I've cut out a lot of prepackaged fare too. No rice/noodle mixes/etc. Lots of roasted veggies, fruit, and lean meats (top sirloin, chicken, turkey). Still eat burgers, but I either make them or get them at good restaurants, not fast food burger joints. Any potatoes eaten (fries or otherwise) I make at home and bake, not fry. Even the once-twice a month chicken wings are grilled or baked these days.

It takes getting used to but I have zero desire for fast food anymore.

Yeah. A lot of this. But once you cut fast food out and get away from it, you really don't miss it so much. Even if you make "bad" food at home (burgers, fried food, etc.) chances are that if you make it with fresh ingredients it will *still* be healthier by far than fast food.

Egyptian buddy of mine years ago had me try it. Tried a few varieties, don't remember what they were, but ultimately it wasn't for me. I gave it a try, but ewww.

lol, I think that's the running joke. I really like their curly fries and fried chicken though. Only tried their roast beef twice, it felt like the cattle died in vain.

I always enjoyed most fast food. It was never "the best," but it was cheap and tasty.

Which is why America has such a problem with fast food. It's cheap, easy, and tasty.

And it's engineered to be that way, overloading your taste buds -- therefore, receptors in the brain -- with salty and sweet flavor explosions that trigger you to want more and more.

We have a literal fast food addiction in this country.

True, but that always takes time and prep.

I've been doing some of that here though. Their cooking oil of choice in stores is sunflower oil, which is supposed to be healthier than vegetable or canola oil. Not a fan of corn oil.

A nice skinless breast, soak it in an egg with water, shake in a bag of bread crumbs, fried it in the sunflower oil. Comes out pretty good.

There's a girl down the block that makes awesome homemade french fries for me. Straight from the potato. She makes it look easy, lol, but it takes a little bit of work.

Trying to make homemade friend shrimp is a pain, but when done correctly comes out better than anything from Long John Silver's or even the frozen stuff you can buy though by far.

Not only that, it is more cheaper than most "normal" restaurants, because these lack flavor in some of their meals, cause "we cant use spices or seasoning cause our clients might be allergic to" and/or just *** microwave all their ***before they plate it, and you pay like 2-3 times more than a fast food place.
