Or maybe they apologize privately and not where you can witness them.
Or just they don't deem the same things as you something to apologize for.

Canadians are actually world famous for apologizing for just about everything that happens. Even apologizing for saying sorry too many times.

Canada is seen as having the world's most polite people because of this in the eyes of many who come to visit.

Canadian holds a door open for someone, then apologizes for not holding it open sooner.

Canadians apologize for things they have absolutely no reason to apologize for, much less having anything to do with said scenario.

I think the bolded is near always self satire though, not a genuine though to be taken seriously.

After travelling a lot of canada and getting to know hundreds of Canadians, no one did that genuinely at all.
I used to hear it on an almost daily basis at some of the places I worked or visited.

I'd say it's used 50/50 as serious and as satire.

ah yes...I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur of swedish culture. I even learned to speak swedish from this elder statesman and paragon of swedish traditions.

Get enough sleep?

Somewhat paradoxically, no. So yes.

In the past few weeks I've found I operate better on five hours of sleep than seven to eight (or, you know, 12, in the case of Sunday where I fell asleep into a long coma-like nap while editing a bit of writing for a friend).

It's a very odd finding and the sample size is small.

But I like what it does for my potential hours of gaming if the pattern holds.

If you do something 5 times it becomes habit, so makes sense. I only got about 5 hours last night before leaving for work again and in time it becomes adequate.

Human bodies are amazing for improvising.

Well, I suspect if I do it constantly it will catch up with me I'm sure. I don't know, sleeping as an adult has been a massive clusterfuck anyhow. Can't sleep past 7:30 or so most of the time, but even if I wake up with an alarm at 7:15 I feel shittier than if I woke up at 6:30 without.

And I used to be very much a night person, and given the right circumstances probably would be again.

Who the *** nows, the conflicting information and pseudoscience findings you hear about sleep piss me off endlessly, and when I follow the actual scientifically-documented evidence I get mixed results. If I could possibly make myself go to bed before 10:00 I'd start getting up stupid early and going to the gym in the early a.m. instead of after work, but as it is that's not going to fly.

So right now I'm just going to stick with gaming as I feel like it once everything else is done for the day and if I start feeling shitty for lack of sleep I'll go back to the old way.

you could always just nap on your days off or something, so even 5 hrs a night eventually becomes 7+ 2/7 days

Eh. Yeah.

It's a work in progress.

Only had a chance to watch the first video. Very interesting. I wonder how that system would work in the United States. My guess is that it would never be either properly run or funded, and would be doomed to fail from the start. Our mindset seems to be focused on punishing, rather than correcting criminal behavior.
