Magic. It's not like many things make sense here. I've said much worse stuff I've gotten away with then got hammered for copy/paste.

Genetics! Attraction does play a part. A part! It's not the whole sales pitch... it's more like a shiny ball they give you to play with for a minute... It doesn't play a part in all adds nor does it in most adds. It usually dominates specific markets. Then why doesn't everyone do it? Sounds like you're just making more excuses because you're extremely superficial. It's about fighting superficial involuntary behavior instead of letting it sway your decision making etc. No. It sounds more like someone wracked with self-esteem issues and who places more weight on general attractiveness. Do you feel you need to give her more money to make her like you or something? Then you feel bad about not wanting the one that didnt make your *** hard to get less? So do you have the same problem with guys? Or do they all just fall into the generally unatractive or old categories? The way you talk makes it seem like people can't think with their brain but only their genitals in normal every day decisions without keeping said genitals in check. That is just false. Even with tipping people make decisions based on different criteria that has nothing to do with attraction. Lakshmi.Flavin said: » Magic. It's not like many things make sense here. Not to pick on Josi, but one image of his didn't have a bit of bad word blanked all the way out, and someone reported it. I edited it out and sent him a PM explaining what I did, but didn't do anything beyond that, because he clearly was intending to follow the rules. It's not black and white. - Is the next step in discipline appropriate? If the next ding on someone is supposed to be a two week vacation, I'm less likely to pull the trigger if it's something minor, and I'll just say something, and then post a note so it's not forgotten about (lots of little stuff can still add up). - How indicative is this incident of their overall body of work? If Josi (sorry, Josi) flips out on someone and loses his mind at them in a post, I'm going to be pretty lenient, since that's not his m.o. at all, and there's a sizable pool of posts that show that's not how he operates. In general, I prefer to under-discipline instead of over, barring cases where something is completely blatant and there's just no way around it. I mostly stick to post edits and unofficial warnings, and an occasional topicban, with a couple of notable exceptions. Offline

Even with tipping people make decisions based on different criteria that has nothing to do with attraction. You know what's attractive to me? A server getting my order right the first time, regardless of the fact she's swinging her *** in my face or not. Or if he's a good looking, movie-esque looking main character kind of guy. Not having to wait 20-30 minutes for a drink because they are too busy getting loaded off of their boss's dime trying to "have a good time". That's the kind of thing that attracts me, and my wallet, into paying out just a little bit more. If you want to tip attractiveness go to a stripclub!

I have never cared what someone who serves me food or tries to sell me something looks like
All I care about is whether they know what they're doing or have knowledge about whatever I'm going to buy (or not buy, based on their recommendation) Offline

I bet you two would be best friends in rl.

Bismarck.Josiahfk said: » They are both the same idea flavin. Impulses that we put forth effort to control instead of letting them away any decision making. Our subconscious existing and functioning is just another part of how we are genetically designed, but your example romoved it entirely that's why I addressed it. A bit off topic but the idea is, this even stems back to what helped patriarchy to exist and dominate our culture, that's how strong an effect this had on our species. I can post the interesting article I found if you want to learn more. Genetics has more to do with how attraction works, rather than how we act on that attraction. What you're describing is learned behavior, on how to act on who or what we (as humans) find attractive. You are making the conscious decision to act in a specific way that shows just how shallow you really are. That is Flavin's point. Your entire argument is made up of "Well, it's in my blood to act this way", when it really isn't. You're also confusing Genetics with Instinctual behavior, since Genetics has limited impact on behavior in relation to instincts, which is an ingrained behavior that is taught and passed down from various sources until it becomes second nature. The only kind of people I see making these kinds of comments or remarks come from those who will use any reason to be superficial and excuse themselves from the ramifications or from taking responsibility for it. Essentially, you're saying it's ok to be a slave to your "genetics", in which you are really describing ingrained social behavior of being superficial, or your subconscious (when it's really a conscious decision to make the "ugly" people feel just as "special" as the pretty people by giving them the same kind of tip for not being as pretty, instead of for going above and beyond to make service that much more pleasant) instead of rising above the pettiness of it all. Josiahkf said: » to tip based solely on the quality of service. you dont tip for looks, unless you go to the strip bar to eat overpriced bbq wings on a weekday during lunch just to tip the uglies, you tip people for their service and disposition. but anyways. new topic since this dragged out and killed other potential convos. Bismarck.Josiahfk said: » I'm sorry. YOU SHOULD BE. *sighs*
Genes just tell you to go outside and *** something. What you find attractive is mostly based on your upbringing and it comes down to an instinctual attraction that we often don't even process and each person places one or another trait above others to define said attraction(does it look healthy, does it look good to give a strong offspring, does it look like it can protect the offspring, etc - all of the psychological and material traits you like in a person come down to these things). Feeling biased towards someone you find attractive is hormonal. It is normal to have a hormonal response in presence of someone you like, HOWEVER, falling prey to said bias just shows a lack of self control and you need to improve yourself. Offline
