That's the thing about foodies... there's always someone else saying the best whatever is over there... and then they fight about it and I just walk away and go eat by myself at that point. Thing is, she has zero reason at all to dislike me that much to not bother inviting me to such large family events. Considering I did save her from a few savage beatings from our dad multiple times. Of course, I ended up taking those savage beatings except for one. Instead he threatened me with a tire iron under his couch. Goosh! August in OK. Jebus! That would suck towing around third trimester throughout the summer. I bet the weather is more accommodating/mild for Kara in August. Although, Mil was just complaining it was getting cold in the house with all the windows open and fans blowing. I said: are you crazy? It's still warm out >.> His response: well, I'm not pregnant. Reminded me of this YouTube Video Placeholder This last week we've started getting summer temps and with no air conditioning, it's warm. Think every weekend the baby girl and I will be at the beach with the nice cool water and sea breeze. Got back from lolRomania this afternoon. Missed my train yesterday cause I was drinking and forgot they were an hour ahead in their time zone, lol.
You'll have to excuse the low quality pictures, only had a 2 megapixel camera. I sold my iPhone 2 months ago to some Serbian that paid €160. Can't beat that for an iPhone 4s. Got these matches, my favorite part is the only thing in English is the Made in Russia part. ![]() Spent all the bills I got there, but got these just for Mosin. Their currency is like dollars and cents. Dollars are LEI and cents are called BANI (BAN is singular). I got a 1, 5, 10 (x2), and 50 BANI coin for ye. ![]() And of course the dinara coins saved up, with 2 different 20 dinara coins. ![]() I already have tons of my own souvenirs, lol. Honestly, I'd bet that 95% of the independent places you eat down in those areas are going to be the "best" you've had of that thing in your recent memory. Those places are in some pretty key locations (pardon the pun) and I'm sure their rent isn't cheap. They're doing something right to be in business year after year, decade after decade, through generations of families. That said I've tried like 4 different times to emulate the lime cilantro sauce I had at Mangrove Mama's and while they've been good in their own right, I haven't even come close. It's frustrating. Maybe I'll take another swing this weekend. Lakshmi.Rooks said: » Lakshmi.Flavin said: » Also, never had key lime pie. Suck on that! And he'll keep eating tomato and pickle on his *** hot dogs. Heathen. Oh, Chicago.
Lots of things make sense, now. Also, no joke, on the train ride home, I saw this black guy and his two (white) friends on the train speaking English. I started talking to them and comes to find out the black guy is from Philly and moved to Belgrade and was doing the same updating visa thing I was doing. (They all were) The two white guys were from the U.K. I thought it was funny though a black guy moved from Philly to Belgrade, Serbia for a better life.
He told me a funny story about how he went to Turkey first before he came here. He said every time he would go out to eat random people would stop by his table and want to take pictures with him. We had a good laugh about that. Muslims taking pictures with a random black guy like he was a celebrity. The black guy was the one who told me the news story about the cop coming to the pool party (newest story in P&R). Lakshmi.Rooks said: » Oh, Chicago. Lots of things make sense, now. We talked about racism for a little bit in America, at one point one of the British guys said you guys got a hell of a lot of work to be done in the U.S. I was like, they do sure, but I'm not apart of that. This is my home now, I have no part in that. We all had a good laugh. Lakshmi.Flavin said: » Are you insulting the people of Chicago?!?! Nothing I could say about Chicago could be worse than what you people do to your taste buds. Also, if its height is measured in inches, it's a casserole, not a pizza. Have you installed ceiling fans?
That's a good call. Have you started taking her to swim lessons? Those are so fun! The stinkbug did get spooked by going under water the first time, but even in the tub he's always been a little guppy. He's been barging into the shower for a few months now. He hears it come on and makes a mad dash no matter who is in there. If the bathroom door is locked he'll plant himself outside the door calling for whoever is in the shower. It's starting to jump into the nineties here. I didn't mind the long spring and the rain. I wish people wouldn't get it in their heads that they can ford a fast running, former creek because they have a truck or SUV. :/ Shiva.Nikolce said: » Lakshmi.Rooks said: » Lakshmi.Flavin said: » Also, never had key lime pie. I'll probably put an order in at a UK store and have a few shipped after the greenhouse/guesthouse/actual house are in order. We let her play in the waves last weekend and she loved it! Running towards them when they retreated and then backing up as they came towards her, giggling the whole time :) She is not amused with water on her face. For awhile making funny sounds with our mouths -which she started mimicking- while rinsing her hair and face would work at distracting her. Lately this has not worked. =/ Playing in water is fun :) Have you used a slip-n-slide or garden sprinkler yet? Yeah...that sounds a little too warm. My sister was born in November and during that summer my mother was always warm. We ended up at Rock Springs or Wekiva springs for most of it. Hopefully, you don't get major heat waves this year or you can cool off easily. |
