what did I miss?

a bunch of rich crackers thinking when lincoln freed the slaves everything automatically went to a fair playing field for everyone.

Last night I was reading HST's piece about Louisville in 1963.

"a southern city with northern problems"

Good find! I need to read this tonight.

Coincidentally that ties into the article that Oni posted yesterday in P&R about "The 11 Nations of Americas", and it split Lousiana/Cajun territory off of the south and identified it as a region that was very similar to New England in many ways.

No, well, maybe, but I know what you mean.

It's definitely one of the strongest points you can make without hurting others.

I think "noble" is an appropriate word. Self-immolation...The binge of the collective's grievances and purge for the collective's betterment, in that instance at least.

I read through that one. I just don't like commenting when it can easily be misconstrued or warped.

I'm just getting tired of those who fight for the sheer sake of fighting in there. It amazes me that people don't understand that others may approach P&R with the same intent.

Out, out damn snot!

I miss MST3k. At least where they did the commentaries on the movies, could care less about the rest of the show.

You'll have to clarify HST; I've got it mapped to Hubble Space Telescope.

I'm going to recommend that you stick with his older stuff...

I was reading Hey Rube! a few weeks ago and it gave me sad feels.... it seemed like he wasn't even able to maintain a coherent train of thought through a whole article...

Yeah, the little skits could get tiresome, but I love their commentary.

My favorite is Manos: The Hands of Fate!

"The Touch of Satan" is pretty great too.

Oh boy! She's super mobile now too! Have you two had to chase her down while wielding the dreaded snot-sucker yet? Any gut kicking protests while squirmy-worming or is she cooperative?

Oh man, the snot sucker. I didn't know what that thing was at first when my nephew was born. To me it looked like the little ear washers from when I was a kid.

So my nephew pulls it out of his mother's bag and starts jamming it up his nose and I'm all, "no, buddy, that doesn't belong crammed up there," thinking it was for his ears.

My freaking sister-in-law's all, "No, it's for vaccuuming out snot, he knows where it's supposed to go!"

Two years old and the little *** already gets to contradict me. At least he got what was coming to him. His little sister runs him ragged, man.

Those were separate statements. I played dice during lunch. I also lost $8. I have no idea where it went.

I mean the following as a means of common ground, not as a dig at you.

But man can you tell who the rural people are by the number of cousins they know and interact with, or what? We don't necessarily have more than other people, but we seem to interact with them so much more...(and, at least in my case, they're not all true "cousins", but first/second/third cousins once/twice/thrice removed, step-cousins, etc.)

I have 18 cousins. I interact with basically 1.
