Meshi's instructions are too complex and needlessly convoluted.

1. Look at your children; are any of them 12 years or older? If yes, make them mow lawn. If no, proceed to step two.

2. Look for neighborhood children 12 or older.

3. Open wallet, remove $10 bill. Wave it at child, tell them it's theirs as soon as the lawn is mowed.

4. Pour drink.

5. Watch child toil for $10.

They will when you start winging them with paintballs or similar non-lethal-yet-painful projectiles.

They've got to learn about the adult concept of "right place, wrong time" eventually...

Don't start at $10, start at $5, work your way up to $10.

Right? LOL! The run-down:

Dad.

Brother.

Dad. (After my brother went to college, I, admittedly, worked the allergies angle pretty damn hard for a couple of years.)

Campus.

Rented. (Lawn service paid for by landlord.)

First house. (BF. Post-break-up, I hired a lawn service. New love-butt good with hired hands.)

New house. (Lawn service, but I really think I should learn at this point. :/)

That's my situation right now, but the lawn service pisses me off so bad. Why can't they do their work during the day while normal productive members of society are also working?

Nooooo, they come in the evenings and have the gall to give me dirty looks when I am in their way, trying to grill my *** dinner.

You see though, then they won't want to mow your lawn again. Eventually you will run out of children who will mow for you. I may have a solution.

Pay the child $10 for first mow. If job is done well, tell them it will be more next time. Now this will get them to do it well. Next time, use a different child, pay them $15 dollars with no bonus incentives. Word will get around that you paid the scab worker more than the base worker. This will make the base worker angry/jealous, but ultimately they will want the increased pay. Said child will now actively attempt to mow your lawn. Now you accept and pay the child $12. They may question you, deny that you know what they're talking about. They will now go back to the $15 child and say they're lying. This will cause an argument. Now both children will want to mow your lawn. They will compete. This is when you bring in a third child. Pay the child $20. Next thing you know, you have just created a competitive mowing job market in your neighborhood. Now you can name your price and watch them fight over mowing your lawn. Profit.

Clearly you don't know how unskilled, untaxed labor works. Who else is going to give them better-than-minimum wage, tax-free, for less than an hour's worth of work?

They'll learn to come when they're needed and that's all.

Also, your plan isn't as fun.

Mmm sausage muffins. Haven't had one of those in a long time. Making me hungry! Also reminds me of the time when my friends and I snuck in a huge bag of shrimp... The reason it happened is because they were all drunk.

I was at a family gathering and they were going to see a movie. I couldn't make it, so they decided to see a later showing. They were already at the theater so they did what any good American would do; hung out in the parking lot drinking booze which were stashed in the trunk of a car while peeling shrimp. I don't even remember which movie it was, I just remember it was in IMAX and there was shrimp.

We in this country have an affinity for breakfast sandwiches.

It's generally considered to be an English muffin with a round sausage patty, an egg cooked through to fit the muffin, and a piece of cheese.

They're quite tasty. I personally like to leave the yolk just a little bit runny and let it provide a bit of a sauce element to the sandwich, and I'll also give it a dash or two of hot sauce most days.

Ham, bacon, or -- if you're feeling fancy -- tender steak are also tasty substitutes for the sausage.

They're pretty good. Egg McMuffin (McDonald's in general) was a "once in a blue moon treat" for take your kid to work day.

I used to love Egg McMuffins! That craving is a double-edged sword now. McDonalds in general...In and out in thirty minutes. It can hardly be called a meal.
