My workplace firewall nixes the ads, but I came to the site at home the other night and there were ads for adoption agencies, which I can only assume is apropos to the Hoppy's discussion on surogate mothers and my ensuing inclusion in the discussion. It was actually one of the more depressing ads I've seen. "Feel like you're not the perfect parent? It's all right, these kids don't mind if you're 'just okay'." Seriously. Yikes. That's how they advertise adopting a child?

Personally, I don't really see it as a bad thing, there are people out there who can't conceive, are gay, are trans, might as well let them be parents. Though I understand that most in these groups actually seek out agencies when they decide to adopt. Wait, so I guess it's a competition of "our kids are better!" That is kinda WTF.

I wish more people should consider adoption, even if they are perfectly capable of having children of their own. There are so many kids without homes. Logically, it makes sense to prioritize taking care of those children than creating more children.

I still kinda want at least one pure-blooded Spath heir but I think it'd be better if I adopted... Either way I have a long time to think about that stuff! Adopting older kids (we'll define that as ages 7-8+) can be very hard on everyone involved. But it's also an age group that desperately needs loving families ready to help them through their problems.
Won't go into it any further, lest I start another debate on the topic. Anyhow. I'm just sayin'; the ad itself could have been done a bit more...tastefully. :x
