Running to someone else to fight your battles hmmm?

***this is a battle? I thought we were just *** around.

screw you guys.

I still say Kara would defeat wasps if put at odds with them.

shall we place bets & see if she'd be willing to take on a hive for sport!?!?
I'd put money on it.

Oh, Ni!

Did you find a solution for the stinger-clad pest problem, Kara?
The wasp guy hasn't gotten back to me yet.

It's not dark yet either.

Mil is thinking of putting a large flower pot over it and doing something with the spray, or throwing it in a bag.

He mentioned something about a torch too...

Engineers. Men.

So, no decision yet. :)

Torch? Look if we're going to bring fire into this let's at least do it right... at the very least you need a flamethrower... At least half of your house needs to come down in this fiasco...

My house is brick.

I would be more concerned about the tree -> hedge -> neighbors garage with their camper parked in it than burning my house down.

But Idon't want to piss the wasps off. I want them dead.

So a molotov cocktail or (like some people in the UK apparently do) pour gas on the hive then light a match.

However, I'm not convinced on the fire method ><

Our friend grunty had a wasp nest under his wooden deck.

Round 1 (Ding!) So he emptied an entire can of wasp killer on it, it didn't work, he got stung about twenty times.

Round 2 (Ding!) Boiling water from above he got stung twenty more times

Round 3 (Ding!) He did a little more prep work, Four cans of wasp spray, heavy clothes, got stung thirty times

Round 4 (Ding!) Got pissed and lit the stream of wasp killer as he sprayed it, got stung forty times, burned his deck to the ground, almost lost his house in the flames with his wife and baby inside, had to call the fire department

That seems like a good temp solution. Maybe they'll suffocate if the spray doesn't do it's business thoroughly?

Yeah, those will probably work. Some recommend drowning the wasps after they are in a bag. Not sure.

Yeah, the Brits that posted that liked that method a lot. Seems they used it for underground nests.

Oh good! I was under the assumption that they were indiscriminately tossing molitov cocktails at hives hanging from trees or homes.

and people laughed at me when I bought the beekeepers suit...

If you're going to put a flower pot over it or something similar use one with a small hole in the bottom... You can use this hole to insert a funnel or something similar that allows you keep the wasps from coming out while being able to drop something in yourself... don't be the guy that doesn't keep the put level with the ground either while a million of them stream out to kill you...

I prefer to use glue...

but the best way is to get someone else who actually knows what they're doing to do it and leave it to that...

Also... Your house ins't 100% brick leaving a good deal of it to go up in flames!

Yeah, I've been stung. On the face for that matter.

Not a fan.

Glad this is a new nest but the average nest has a couple thousand wasps.

In this situation it really seems like the only good solution. I wouldn't let Mil anywhere near it if he's allergic to the damn things and you have a small child... let somebody else deal with it.

Mil's allergies and the sweetone (I bet she'd be inside during this though) are the only apprehensions. The potential for an accident makes it seem riskier.

Yeah, she would be inside with one adult. Currently asleep (yes!).

But the pest control people (2 companies) are not answering phones at the moment or emails, and haven't for a few hours. We'll see if they get back to me tomorrow.

You know... until they find themselves running in terror from the wasps back into the house and a few get in then the sweetone is fair game...

Personally I would kill them with fire by soaking the whole thing in enough charcoal lighter fluid to burn a ten foot hole into the ground. But I'm not allergic or home alone with a baby....

A swarm and that scenario did cross my mind.

I was suburban technically, but we still get the bees, yellow jacket, hornets, wasps "talk", in addition to...

A.) Scorpions, brown recluses, black widows.

B.) Diamond head on a snake or the "Red on black, friendly jack...Red on yellow, kill a fellow." lesson.

Conditioned to not care about bugs or snakes because their simply "creepy" looking, care when they can cause harm to you, family, neighbors, pets, etc.

EDIT: I swear I've read an article recently about a lady who caught her house of fire by trying to burn a snake with a lighter and aerosol canned substance. :/
