Zahrah, question: Are you decently fluent in any other languages (besides English)?

If you are, why not challenge yourself and read a book in that other language.

When I read nowadays, it's largely historical accounts or scholarly literature. Beowulf and The Odyssey were fun texts back in HS offhand along with The Picture of Dorian Gray. Seeing Wuthering Heights brings Jane Eyre to mind too. lol The realm of video gaming/anime/TV series is where I get my fantasy fix nowadays. :3
I mainly read whatever my dad has been reading... I'll stop over and pick up the last book he put down... He's been on a presidential kick lately...

I liked Wuthering Heights, too. It's you and I against the world, Zah! I'm sorry but Heathcliff is so evil it's addictive. "I'm gonna *** your family up, and it's gonna be legal! Bwuah ha ha ha ha!"

Which books? I really get put off by reading presidential biographies.

I've had Clinton and Bush II's books sitting on a shelf for years and never once touched them after getting the autographs and getting the hell outta those bookstores.

Why are you listing off all the books they make you read in High School?
They're great pieces of classical Literature? I mean hell Don Quixote may be one of the most hilarious reads I've ever had. I actually put it up above The Importance of Being Earnest, which is a hysterical play.
I thought the point of suggesting things to read would be suggesting things most Americans have already been required to read... I mean...let's face it... If I know the book there's about a 95% that everyone else does too...
Probably that you or the average American did anything more than skim them enough to pass a quiz? Minimal.
Not really a complete thought there but I get the idea lol... Well you're giving recomendations to Zah here so are you saying that she didn't take the time but to skim the books and move along? Beyond that, if they read them or not they still know about them and have been given the choice to read and have turned that opportunity down...

Besides that what makes you didn't than a google search in terms of spitting out the same books that are recomended to everyone? lol...
Long day, probability*
Why would I have to google.
I'm merely going of the list of books I enjoy.
No need to pop in with your typical snarky *** comments.
I reccomend them because the odds that someone has read every good piece of classical Lit is quite slim. yes they're famous titles and there is a reason for that.
I swear, your snarky comments are getting annoying as *** lately.
Also, not a complete thought.
Smart ***.

Biographies are usually the contemporary route I take. IDK why, but I've really never been a fiction person.

I picked up the first three books of 'Game of Thrones' a while ago, and still haven't made it through the first.

The latest ones have been on Washington, Adams and the two Roosevelts...

Edit: I'm also trying to pick up more on the founding and history of our nation... One thing about these threads has made me realize that when people throw around terms like constitution and what the founding fathers wanted or saw for the country I'd like to be able to respond with more knowledge on the topic...

I left the scott pilgrim graphic novels at home.

Reading takes so much energy out of me, I can't stay focused that long. Reading doesn't make me feel productive.
Play PSP or DS, that's produc...wait a minute...now I'm lost...
