With that mentality, there shouldn't be any handheld systems at all, since it'll just be better on a console. Also, then there shouldn't be any point to a console, since it would just be better on a PC. And, for me, PC gaming is terribly inconvenient. I love how Dissidia is on PSP - awesome game and can play it anywhere. I hate games that are on the Ps3 and also on the PSP, since the PSP version basically looks horrible by comparison and no one gets it. How to keep people from selling their PSP? Make exclusives.
Soul Calibur does this so much better and you know it.
might have functioned great but it would have had a lot better playability on something that would support more content.

Good example, Soul Calibur had a well thought out story behind each character and a fantastic story mode, but it was kept simple with th emphasis being on a great fighting game. Dissidia doesn't know what it wants to be, is it a fighting game? Is it an action game? Is it an rpg? We can't decide so we will just try and make it all 3 instead of taking one of those genres and making something good. All that accesorizing and customizing move lists etc belong to several genres, it just doesn't work when you mix all those contrasting elements together and hope for the best.

Who the *** cares? Its a game all FF fans have been waiting for (or had been) for so very long, and thats the very reason which makes it so good to play. Hell, giving the old characters voices from all the genres was amazing to me. Squalls voice go! XD
But really, you dont exactly seem bothered that its a true FF fans game and i think its amazing, because i love FF

It has many similar features: interactive arenas (granted they are much bigger in dissidia), explosive over the top finishing moves, flying multihit combos etc, pitting heroes from a succesful franchise against one another. Just because it looks nothing like MvC doesn't mean the fundamental gaming aspects are not the same. The only thing missing is the tag team system.

Looks nothing like MVC and plays nothing like MVC. Loads of fighting games have all the aspects you mentioned above. Since MKIII Fighting games have all been like that.
