That's where I'm keeping my prop/cosplay work organized.

Yes, there's some FF stuff on my to-do. But if I find some good anime stuff, or get commissioned for it--something I'm hesitant to undertake when I have nothing to show for the quality I strive for-- I'd do more~

Prop building is an expensive learning process, lol. Right now, on my bench I have, in various stages of completion:

1. Elucidator (SAO ep. 7-13, painting it now)
2. Dark Repulser (SAO ep. 7-13, blade is cut, edged. hilt details being refined)
3. Lambent Light (SAO (Asuna) ep. 7-13, vector file being tweaked)
4. Elemental Staff (FFXI, building sculpting armature for head)
5. Ragnarok (Soul Eater, blade cut, edged. needs trimmed up).

I used the phrase 'Elemental Staff' instead of "Light Staff" (which is the first one I'm doing) since we all know they're identical except for the bead color. This has been done by a couple prop builders before, and I'm using one's plans and the other one's basic technique...though I'm partial to Volpin's. Sucks he doesn't sell raw castings, but then again, making it myself is more rewarding and probably (maybe not) cheaper.

Hanging in the corner of my cave is a half-finished Black Wyrmhide Coat. Well, by half, I mean half of the outer shell.

Oh hell, for good measure...


Poplar, polyurethane resin, a bit of bondo, and a LOT of time.

The handle and pommel were made from a 2" dowel rod I lathed down.
I have molds of all the original parts *cough*ShamelessSelfPlug*cough. This thing weighs about 3 pounds, and most of it is in the handle
I'm changing that bright-*** silver to a nickle paint now, actually...and yes, I know the flat of the blade is supposed to be black. This pic is from work-in-progress, I haven't gotten that far yet. :P

Nah, this is what I think of as impressive (even if I don't agree with some of the shape), cuz it's what inspired me to start into proper prop building instead of foamcoare + duct tape.

And no, you don't wanna know how much they charge for a commissioned copy. You can get the mass-produced ones from Chineese companies for less than half their price, but you're probably not getting as good of quality online.

Yeah seriously man... 's why i find dubbed anime so f'n annoying.


Probably unless you quit they will always recast a seiyu-ka for the role.

For example often times young boys are voiced by female seiyu-ka, hence the young son goku, if you ever bother watching the japanese version of DBZ you'll notice its still the same voice actor even though he's stuposed to be an adault now >.<

If you ever bothered to watch both Negima animes you'll also notice its the same voice actors.

Dubbed and Subbed was bad for it. He'd either be yelling out "Dattebayo!" or "Believe it!" every few minutes, causing me to want to bludgeon his head in after a hundred or so episodes.

You know the dattebayo never really bugged me that much... but the believe it... god...

I got to the part with the huge filler gap between original and Shippuden. I decided to stop right there because I started yelling STFU out loud whenever he said it.

Skip the crap, 99.9% of the time there is nothing of value from the side adventures. Dubbed Naruto has some good VAs and others that remind me why people typically hate English dubs of anything.

Gaara, Shikamaru, Kakashi, Gai and Sakura are pretty good.

Yeah not all english VA's or dubbs are bad.

Coboy Bebop, FMA (first they changed VA's for brother hood -.-), YuYuHakusho are all ones i can say i enjoyed the dub for.

Sadly as i stated before i learned from naruto what filler is, also i was watching naruto several years before it hit states and before i was really into manga so was pretty ignorant. now a days i prefer to be ahead on the manga even if i do end up watching the anime just so i know when fillers start and to stop caring.

Think is some Animes do filler really well. Fairy Tail fillers are pretty good. I also liked the Soul Vampire filler in Bleach.

I really like Studio Ghibli stuff, any suggestions for other movies or shows?

Check out some Viz Media stuff and Shonen Jump stuff. Steins;Gate is really good and it was based on an Xbox 360 visual novel game. Has one of the best story lines I've seen in a while and it's really emotional half way through.

If you like Ghibli, you would love Mamoru Hosoda's work.
