This wasn't mentioned on the bgwiki page, but Laevateinn AM2 has a 4min30 (270 sec) duration.

Guess I shouldn't have been too surprised, but I'm a little surprised that +13 magic damage does not beat 4 int on a tier5 nuke.

One INT used to be around 8+ dmg for a 2.5k dmg nuke or higher so a 4 int ammo would be 40ish+ dmg on t4-t5.

That's not surprising for TV. TV have very large INT multipliers. So 4 int is multiplied by at least 3.5 for any nuke (14D).

Low tier nukes have smaller multipliers, so Dosis will win.

So macro it in for everything except Tier 5's?

I thought ppl were saying +dmg was only for Tier 1/2/aga's

Confused.

You could test both, comparing just those 2 ammo's should be very easy to test. I'd estimate around t4 they would equalize and t5 favouring the 4 int ammo, although I thought erlene's was superior in most cases for t4/t5. But then i've not played BLM since morri got shat on the second time around.

For high dInts, T4s have Int multipliers of about 3, so 4 Int is worth about 12 base damage, and thus Doris slightly edges out the win (13 base damage vs 12). As dInt drops, that 3x multiplier goes down to the T3 spells, and then the T2 spells.

So:
dInt 100+, Dosis wins on T4/Ga3 and under
dInt 50+, Dosis wins on T3/Ga2 and under
dInt under 50, Dosis wins on T2/Ga1 and under
In all cases, T5/Ja do better with Ombre
In all cases, AM/AM2 do better with Dosis

Given something like 130 int from gear (mainly Hagondes), you should be at 50+ dInt for almost everything except (possibly) Delve bosses (and probably even them, assuming Impact is being used, along with various other possible int buffs/debuffs), and 100+ dInt for all older stuff (including old, high-int NMs like Kirin).

As such, I'd always recommend Dosis for T1/T2/T3/Ga/Ga2/AM/AM2, and Ombre for T5/Ja. The only questionable entries are T4/Ga3. For those, though, on the borderline cases (dInt between 50 and 100) the difference probably won't be more than about 10 damage (out of 4000), so I'd select based on whether you expect to encounter more low dInt situations (under 50 dInt; use Ombre) or high dInt situations (100+ dInt; use Dosis).

For Erlene, with 3 MAB, relative value depends on total MAB. With 220 total MAB (including trait), Erlene basically ties with Dosis on T5/Ja, and is worse than Dosis on all other spells. With higher MAB, Dosis always wins on all spells. With lower MAB, Erlene has a very marginal edge over Dosis on T5/Ja. You can drop to 140 total MAB and its lead is still only about 10 points on 3000 damage spells. As such, I would consider it completely obsoleted by Dosis, leaving you only with the question of Dosis vs Ombre.

Is this guide up-to-date? Curious what the order from best to mediocre Nuking Staves are with/without elemental obis (and sch or /sch for -storm spells) with the new eminent staff being released. :o

This is why guides are bad.

To answer your question, if the numbers next to "magic damage, "int" and "magic attack bonus" are higher, then it's a stronger staff.

No one does, because the number varies based on other factors. Generally speaking, magic damage is more potent for low tier nukes and int/mab is more potent for higher tier nukes. If you want a more precise answer, run out into ceizak and blow up some mandies with different gear.

Someone know a reason why sorcerers tonban +2 dont have the same enhance elemental magic affected by day?

If the revamped relic legs had that, that would be an unmatched piece for any nuker...

Greetings,

The reason why the day bonus changed to INT+5 and Magic Attack Bonus +5 is because the damage boost will remain at a constant value, and at the time it was introduced this was thought to be more valuable than depending on the proper day to utilize this equipment.

We understand, however, that as the power of each elemental spell has been balanced out in the July 2013 version update, the usefulness of the day bonuses have increased. We appreciate your feedback on this and we will take it into consideration moving forward.

Hi ppl

Someone is having problems with magic acc and magic resistance against AA? I were using my Hagondes MAB gear in these fights, but all spells were resisting. I had to change some pieces to increase magic accuracy, in order to avoid wasting tons of MP in resisted spells.

Any tips? I'm planning reforge af2 to 109, and get another Hagondes set with magic acc aug.

What difficulty level? If normal you can get away with using your nuking gear and whatever m.acc you happen to have on it.
Anything higher and the resist rate becomes pretty obscene without taking specific m.acc gear.

You'll have a lot more success with a 2nd Hagondes set with m.acc augments. I wouldn't spend a lot of time w BLM relic reforging unless you plan to 119 it too.

I would say check out the SCH guide. It has up to date sets, that can apply to SCH and BLM. the one thing im not sure about and that you'd have to look at is how reforged AF/Relic gear fits in.
