I've noticed Gooey Gerard taking much more damage in the 99 Horns of War BCNM. Is this intended? The difference in damage taken is humongous... I used to barely get away with 1 jug. Now, it takes maybe even 3 jugs to kill it. I don't use reward during those fights, but that's not the point.

Might be the 1-hand / 2-hand damage update. Not sure what Behemoth uses. Happen to notice what it was taking damage-wise from melee hits and meteor?

Reward helps immensely with regen effect and HP cured too.

Also make sure you gear was on, even if you were using spellcast. I've had it crash before and I didn't notice due to blinkmenot.

Either way, just did a text search of my logs before SoA and this is what it shows:
Code
Line 11646: [22:47:25]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 60 points of damage.
Line 11650: [22:47:27]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 61 points of damage.
Line 11664: [22:47:34]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 38 points of damage.
Line 11669: [22:47:38]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 62 points of damage.
Line 11671: [22:47:41]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 58 points of damage.
Line 11676: [22:47:44]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 59 points of damage.
Line 11699: [22:48:02]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 51 points of damage.
Line 11703: [22:48:04]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 43 points of damage.
Line 11716: [22:48:10]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 62 points of damage.
Line 11785: [22:48:48]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 43 points of damage.
Line 11793: [22:48:51]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 45 points of damage.
Line 11797: [22:48:55]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 38 points of damage.
Line 11859: [22:49:28]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 35 points of damage.
Line 11868: [22:49:37]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 46 points of damage.
Line 11879: [22:49:42]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 47 points of damage.
Line 11918: [22:50:07]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 37 points of damage.
Line 11936: [22:50:19]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 44 points of damage.
Line 11954: [22:50:30]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 45 points of damage.
Line 11971: [22:50:40]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 41 points of damage.
Line 11980: [22:50:45]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 42 points of damage.
Line 12015: [22:51:05]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 47 points of damage.

Line 12049: [22:51:21]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 40 points of damage.
Line 12164: [22:52:23]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 46 points of damage.
Line 12172: [22:52:33]Chlevnik hits GooeyGerard for 31 points of damage.

and Meteor damage (I melee along with Gooey since I bring my WHM mule inside, speeds up the fight to under 10 mins, generally 6-8 mins):
Code
[22:47:21]Chlevnik casts Meteor.
[22:47:21]GooeyGerard takes 89 points of damage.

[22:50:59]Chlevnik casts Meteor.
[22:50:59]GooeyGerard takes 89 points of damage.

[22:52:11]Chlevnik casts Meteor.
[22:52:11]GooeyGerard takes 95 points of damage.

No it's not. Anyways, the pet dies much quicker than usual now to the magic damage... Yes and I use 2 x PDT astolfo, and the whole basic turtle pet setup. And even if I was naked, the pet wouldn't die that fast pre-SoA. If you want an eye-ball answer. The pet would die in like 4-5 meteor hits. I'm not standing close enough to see Behemoth cast meteor, but I see the pet HP go down like this: 100 >> 67 >>> 40 >> 22 >>> 1; way too fast. It was like fighting the Behemoth in Limbus. The Limbus Behemoth's meteors hit much harder than the Horns of War one. It seems like they made it equal to that now.

Wouldn't the pet also be affected by the new level correction, and defense adjustments?

I win without using reward. The pet dies much quicker than usual now... Yes and I use 2 x astolfo, and the whole basic turtle pet setup. And modifying ATK/DEF ratio wouldn't change Meteor damage... either you've been lucky all this time or you had bad luck. In either case pet food is the solution.

Applied only to expansion monsters as far as I've read. Even if it was applied to other monsters that should work in favor of the Slug.

As far as I know, the att/def adjustments only apply to higher level mobs which would exclude this particular NM (and wouldn't affect magic attacks).
Still, having to use 3-4 theta biscuits is not a problem. So sorry you couldn't completely afk the fight.

Still doesn't change the fact they could have ninja-buffed his magic damage in the update. If you spam this constantly, you would see the difference. Gerard usually fully-resists the meteor damage in Horns of War. Now, it's like fighting the Behemoth in Limbus because that Behemoth has a much more potent Meteor, which Gerard tends to never resist. Obviously, the people who responded so far have not really done this BCNM recently to compare it to the Limbus Behemoth. I appreciate the opinions, but they are all useless.

Friend who does this when he has seals said nothing changed when he did it on Friday. I don't have the seals or I'd test it but I'm guessing a case of bad luck. Unless Falcorr is special for some reason.

I did this fight solo as BST a few times when I was finishing up my BB items. I remember having to use 3-4 thetas each time. It doesn't sound like anything has changed.

Did this one again last night and yes, Gooey does definitively take more damage. From using only 3-4 Theta's during the fight, I went through probably 6-8. Meteors looked like they were taking about 20% of Gooeys HP.

Attack / Defense adjustments apply to all mobs. It's worth noting that mobs typically have very high attack , but not necessarily high defense . Mobs with damage resistance tend to have lower defense than other enemies . Gerard probably falls into this category .

They definitely made magic damage way more potent on pets with that last expansion update.

Not sure what got adjusted. It would have been nice if it even got mentioned. (in the update notes.. anywhere..)

I just assumed I was living in a parallel universe or something. Because no one else seemed to be saying anything about it.

To my mind it seems they just simply made the pets magic resistance way less.
To the point that where before the nerf all jug pets would pretty much resist 80-90% of nukes. They now resist nearer 20-30% of nukes.
And it's not just any particular jug. It's all of them.
And they don't just resist less. They can take a bit more max damage from particular nukes. I've never previously seen Flare do more than 850 on a pet. And yet now it caps at something like 975.

It's all manageable I agree. To the people saying "oh shame you can't afk win BCNM's now.."
But it's not cool that nothing was ever said. And it was just dumped on me one day seeing jug pets getting burned up in minutes where they used to last hours farming.

Just scrolled threw real fast but did they change the defense etc to pets also?
From what i read it sounds like they did. Also iv noticed lately, i haven't thought to hard or mentioned it. But doin dyna lately i notice falcor dien a lot faster.

It seems i cant hold as many mobs on him as i use to. Bst/dnc usual proc snarl etc and eventually gather about 10-15 mobs on falcor (if the zones empty you can) anyways lately i notice i get about up to 8 on him and hes getn wrecked needing to reward more than i remember & even died a few times. Is this pet nerf true or just assumption?

I've never done Horns of War on BST, but I've noticed my pets taking a lot more damage in general since the update, and when I engage with them it's almost impossible to keep hate on them too... Anyone else having that problem?

I know that SE "adjusted" enmity, but I'm pulling hate every few swings...

for magic damage maybe it has to do with the current known issues?

Quote:
A player may not be able to resist attacks from a monster despite the monster’s level being lower than their own character.
