You can, kind of.. >.>

If the gear is something you can store.. You can store it and get it back "clean".

You can synth the item to another thing,

Like a Royal Archer's Cesti can be synth'd to a San d'Orian Cesti

Edit: I did it after getting the fire resist +2 augment, the cesti already having this stat from non-ugmented...

In my experience the only decent items are the ones that SE gives you from the keys. I've yet to see one that blew my mind that was made by a player.
I mean, +8 wind on a snipers ring FTW? (No it wasn't me XD)
Someone said he got +2 acc on a brig (nq), so I guess that isn't too bad. It's so random it's generally a waste of time.
You can desynth the augmented items or sell to NPC, but I think that's it.

you can drop it and then call GM to return dropped item, within a couple days you'll get it back brand new no augments.

Thing is, im always one for saving up for the best possible gear, so the augmenting brings out a whole new level of getting the best possible gear, especially gear i will be usng till 75 eg sniper ring, but i gues its just not worth it and i should push it out the back of my brain.

I doubt they would like it if i did that like 5 times trying to augment a sniper ring till im happy lol

Ive seen really good augments which obviously arent from doing "elite training" but what do you mean by using keys? (im prob not high enough lvl to get these augmented ones, hence why i dont know what u mean :p)

Which you can redo 4 of a real day. But if it was a 70+ non ring then it was from ANNM

Yeah, I was referring to the Crimson and Viridian Keys that you can get each Earth day.
i've been trying to get a stupid augmented sarcenet cape for my pup since pup can't wear damn near anything useful in most slots around level 30.
only thing even remotely interesting i got was a
silver belt with str+1, acc/racc+2
i wouldn't exactly call them useful, but hay it's free stuff. free stuff is always fun.

i want to zerg the fei'yin bc for that sexy 2 str 5atk/ratk earring ;;

Super necro here but does anyone have experience with destroying items and having them restored for a second time?

I mean the whole item recovery thing is supposed to be a one time ordeal, is there a way to have a GM recover an item if I used a one time restore say, a few years back and then destroy a player augmented item (accidently drop/sell/etc) to get a clean item back? Any player experiences with this would be appreciated, thanks.

The player augment makes them even less likely to restore it. I think that was the big issue with people who dropped relics.

If I remember correctly any augmented item (even through ToM) won't be restored. I remember reading a post either on this forum or the official forums, stating that because they aren't considered to be the original, it presents some sort of coding issue. Sounds more like SE being lazy and not wanting to put forth any more effort than they have to, but who knows...

I'm curious if you are talking about items done through FoV or quests, or by synergy, I've never heard of REMOVING augments, no matter how terribad they are. I once saw a staff with like 4 axe skill on it, lol.
