So, suggestions? Which are the areas/mobs considered to be best/fastest to complete the Astolf Pet PDT trials?
Thanks for any input ;)

Here's what I did. I'm up to trial 2007 and working on it right now.
Trial 296: Pashhow Marshlands [S] - Any water area fighting the crabs there Trial 330: Crawler's Nest - Big Square room. Vespa. check DC. Jug pets should easily withstand. Weather occurs frequently enough, it's not as rare as people say down there. If you have Dynamis Tavnazia unlocked I hear that's the best place to go. Trial 339: Western Altepa Desert - NW area, has some EP mobs, Anticans, Manticores, Scorpions and Giant Birds. Make sure to /check if they are EP beforehand. Alternatively Mount Zhayolm - everything's EP+, gets fairly frequent weather, but it's bit of a walk if you don't have easy access. Trial 340: Quicksand Caves - SW secret entrance of Western Altepa Desert. Around D-12 if I remember right. Bunch of EP lizards in the area. Frequent weather. Trial 343: The Eldieme Necropolis [S] - entrance number 2. There are a few Gazers down there, and earth weather occurs frequently enough. Trial 344: The Eldieme Necropolis [S] - entrance number 3. Plenty of Ignis Djinn around. Trial 1332: The Eldieme Necropolis [S] - entrance number 3. As above, Ignis Djinn. Do two axes at once, one Skeggiold 344 and another 1332, knock out them both at the same time. Trial 1333: The Eldieme Necropolis [S] - entrance number 1. Work your way to the big room in the west where it's possible to drop down. Wait up there til earth weather, then jig up and drop. There are plenty of skeletons to kill. If you need to wait for more earth weather, you can probably find a tunnel safe enough to AFK in. Trial 2007: Mount Zhayolm - the cliff around H-9 has many pugs and crabs to kill. Pretty frequent weather. I went with the suggestions on the ffxiclopedia pages. One thing I will say is they're dead wrong about Crawler's Nest being a bad place for water weather. Happened pretty much every day I was down there and stayed up long enough for me to take around 5 or 6 bees out each time. EDIT: you can probably knock the trials out in over a week playing at a casual level. Thanks a lot :)
Always dynamised without Astolfos but I'm afraid that after the patch Pet will take waaaay more damage than before, so I'll probably be forced to make at least one :( http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Trial_296
Start here and work towards PDT. It has multiple recommendations for each trial. Fitali... your avatar... why can't I stop staring!?!?
So when you're doing this with 2 axes at the same time, do you have to kill double the enemies or do they progress the same?
You can't be on the same trial on different weapons, you have to kill double the enemies. Though, there are two stages (bombs and arcana) that overlap and you can reduce the number of mobs you need to kill slightly by doing those two stages together.

The change to attack/defense causes our pets to take more damage. I have noticed a significant enough increase in damage taken and I am only running with Ferine legs +2 and 1 PDT Astolfo as far as any PDT/DT down gear goes.

For the skeles i like to bring out lulush and gather the skeles all up and use Lulush's AoE ability, a lot faster especially if you find another bst there that needs the same trial.. it will be done in no time took me 10mins.

Had the exact location like Toebag suggested. Took me a saturday and sunday to complete both axes.
I watched the weather forecast on this site: http://ff11info.com/bazaar/en/weather.php and if no weather was present at all i just did some stuff here and there inbetween. If you don't have access to Dynamis-Tavnazia (like me) for Trial 330, Temple of Uggalepih is a decent alternative. I did both of my axe trials here fighting Temple Bees when water weather is up.
To save you some time and keep me from standing around, I use the following link to give me an idea of when the correct weather is coming up. Seems fairly accurate: http://ff11info.com/bazaar/en/weather.php Offline

I attempted to make mdt axes a while ago, but never finished them.
It's very difficult because the lack of weather and mobs/areas, the axes are useful for abyssea, specially when soloing magical mobs. Reduces the magic damage taken by a lot stacked with Atma of a Future Fabulous/ducal guard and double mdt axes /other dt gear just as ferine legs.ect Based on forums posts , with all the gear gathered will be like 98% reduced magic damage taken, since mdt does not have a cap. Unless it got fixed on recent patches? idk Offline

I honestly found the weather to be more reliable in CN than the Temple. Was there for around 3 in game days, and magian specs were giving me counts of no weather.
CN on the other hand was water weather every day. However, I didn't know about that website at the time. |
