Holy ***at those stats.

That's goodbye to Taeon Tabard and Taeon Gloves.

Not quite, they can still receive MAB augments of up to +20 giving you +20 body and +27 hands which gives them added life/use as swipe/lunge/Herculean Slash macro options.

How do you survive these fights? The mobs pop and start casting tier V then IV of rotating elements that all do quite a bit of dmg.

Erilaz: STR+16 DEX+42 Great Sword skill +28 (Accuracy+28 / Attack+28)

vs

Nilas: STR+11 DEX+35 Attack+15 Double Attack+2%

Asura.Sechs said: »
For WS totally, probably for TP too, unless you're fighting weak stuff where the DA+2% would be preferable.
Alas it's no inventory+1 because you'll still want to keep Nilas for Lunge/Swipe

From an offensive perspective, Taeon with good augments stomp both for TP (and beat Nilas easily for WS too, though are pretty close with Erilaz for WS).

Taeon Gloves: STR+9 DEX+35 plus TA+2% from leaf stones, and whatever mix of Acc/Atk from snow (mine are 19/19) and STR/DEX from dusk you have.

Sechs has a decent point about Nilas still having use for Lunge/Swipe though. Taeon can win for that too, but I'm not interested in lugging around another pair with MAB augments just for Lunge (in fact, I don't even have Nilas so I'm fine with the base MAB+7 on Taeon).

And definitely true that if you're using Erilaz for the set bonus or resist, that's a consideration. They're both offensively very good and useful defensively. Though you still might want to use Umuthi for PDT-4% depending on your set and the situation.

In a world with infinite gil, infinite stones, infinite inventory space and infinite patience I'd go for Taeon gloves mab-augmented as well.
In the real world I'll just keep my Nilas gloves, ktnxbai.

iLike being gimp, I guess.

Where do we think this stands on the hierarchy of Great Swords? The lack of maximum skill hurts it but that looks good.

20MAB and 150Mdmg AND +.1"ƒTP" for Lunges?
It's certainly the best Lunge/Swipe GS.

It's also the first ToAU GS model texture that didn't make me want to vomit from my eyes.

Where do you obtain that, if you don't mind me asking, Lyncath?

Cause I want one when I reactivate this weekend....

Seconding FaeQueenCory's comment as well... why do they make GS so damned UGLY?

Well, I'd guess that if their elements rotate... so should your Rune Enchantments. IIRC Vana week follows rune order exactly, so it shouldn't be hard to figure out.

Soulcleaver drops from from Putraxia, the final boss of the Duskbrood Vagary.

Each of the four times it's been killed it's dropped Soulcleaver. Either 100% or very high drop rate.

....Joy.

Is that that same thing you had to fight for SoA missions except amped to eleven? Because if it's the one I remember, I hated that thing.

It is.

Doesn't seem overly nasty though. We had to do a makeshift melee strategy on the spot with a PLD and a BLU and still won with 5 minutes to spare.

Well, a good BLU can always help... /end derail

So, besides it not being absolutely butt-*** ugly, has it been useful?

Which Vagary dude dropped that? It seems like a very useful weapon for a lot of situations, plus I think Algols are cool.

It looks to be but it also has MAB 20 and MDmg 150 so its > Aettir for the Lunge/Swipe bonus.

Spent 12 mils on Macbain and I still couldn't get more than Damage+19 on it -_____________-
Then Att+20 (for now I'm happy like this, even if I'd want Acc/Att ideally) and DA+4%.

Could also see it being useful for Herc Slash in situations where magic WS work better.

How good would a RUN fare in Vagary content as the backup tank to a solid PLD? On paper it sounds promising.

- Back-up tank.
- Surprisingly sturdy and independent if the player is decent.
- Effusion: Gambit and Effusion: Rayke to help with BLM/GEO damage.
- Great skillchain partner for the PLD to further improve BLM/GEO damage.

It's not 100%, I've run it a few times and it also drops the BLU sword and the Enfeebling waist. The waist seems the most common drop as I've only seen Soulcleaver once, but that may just be me.

All 5.

Feet legs and body are arguably BiS for tanking.
Hands are BiS for accuracy (so is the body) and great for the 80% dex mod on Dimidiation.

Head is just a macro piece for refresh and vivacious pulse.

Tricky question that I got when I was cleaning up my Lua today.
Even though I never go /WAR I noticed I have a decent Enmity+ build for JAs that is currently used for two JAs: Provoke and Warcry.

Would it be meaningful to use such a set in all other JAs as well? In the slots where I don't need job enhancing items of course.
Like... for runes? For Valiance/Vallation? Pflug? All RUN JAs basically except those where you need specific sets (Lunge/Swipe).

Would it be meaningful or just meh?

Yeah, I have an enmity set I have that is like +60 Enmity (before Crusade and Epeolatry, which is another +48). I could get it higher if I was willing to make some more space for things. Stacking it up really high can make a profound difference, when you're doing things like doubling the already insanely high enmity generated by the moves we have.

My enmity set is triggered for Valiance, Vallation, Liement, Pflug, Battuta, Sforzo, Subterfuge, Gambit, Swordplay, Pulse, Foil, Flash, One For All, Embolden, and Meditate, and is overwritten by gear that enhances the abilities. WSs and Lunge/Swipe are filled up with actual damage gear.

My set is only +64 atm, with weapon but without Crusade.
Good part of it though is that it's gear I'd bring with me regardless, so it doesn't stress my inventory.

Guess I'll start making some changes in my Lua then, and finally use this enmity set which I originally created for Provoke/Warcry but then I don't think I've ever gone /WAR to something.

ItemSet 334832
This is what I use for tanking these days.

Evasionist's Cape has a perfect augment of Damage Taken -5% on it and you need that augment to pull this set off.

Aettir (5% PdT II)
Lithelimb Cap (3% PdT)
Eri. Legs (7% PdT)
Eri. Feet (5% PdT)
Twilight Torque (5% DT)
JSE Cape (3% PdT / 5% DT)
Flume Belt (4% PdT)
Defending Ring (10% DT)
Vocane Ring (7% DT)

If you're not using the Aettir this will put you pretty much on the cap border so you can probably sub in Goading or some other TP/Enmity waist over the Flume.
