Pre-Emergency Post- Emergency I reckon we're good for a while. So that rudra is like 10% of total dmg. So wtf did they actually break?
DAMN YOU BOTH. Can't I have just a little fun with stupid people?

ON a pure DD ranking basis would Thf now be third? After Sam and Dancer?
Err I just zoned into Adoulin from Ceizak and I'm getting a CS.

Koga SAM > Ryu DRG > Mediocre SAM > Vajra THF > MandauTHF > MNK > loldnc Give or take, opinion etc. And actually I got ALOT of grief when I indicated that THF was a better DD than DNC. Peepes were saying their DA JA makes DNC own THF in regards to DD output. No. That's dancer fanboy talk. Dancer is good, and the 1 or 2 amazing dancers out there like Bryth, it might be true.
You could say the same thing about anyone saying THF > DNC (thf fanboy talk). If you count self skill chains sure. But if it's something where THF can close someone else's skillchains vs DNC in the same scenario. No way. Byrth's dnc is like a dagger wielding samurai wearing a tiara and ruffles.
DNC and THF are both very competitive in top DD slots, and it likely comes down to which one gives your group better additional utility. Honestly, both jobs should be very happy and I really don't get trashing each other (as a THF DNC NIN, I'm ecstatic in general from this update)
Last night I did a few Incursion ~124 runs (mainly for CP farming). My DNC (Shark daggers) and friend's Mandau THF in same party, same buffs, both of us with pretty high end gear in all other slots. We were very close in damage, with my DNC edging him out by a small amount. I was generally riding Saber Dance and using Climactic Flourish > Rudra whenever possible. Ryuno DRG beat us both by a small amount, but honestly it was close enough that any of the 3 of us could have topped parse. Situations favoring THF over DNC: - TH matters - Trying for hate control with a tank (TA+Rudra is a obviously a lot more potent now) - Able to position yourself for SA/TA (THF was at a bit of a disadvantage on Incursion fodder mobs since it's so hard to get them to be still and SA+Rudra them without Bully up) Situations favoring DNC over THF: - Mobs that live long enough to apply decent level of steps (def-, eva-, crit eva- which helps the entire alliance is pretty damn useful on a job that's already pulling its weight as a top DD) - Mobs moving around a lot preventing THF from using SA/TA to their potential - Sambas aren't really a major deciding factor, but certainly enough of a boost to lean toward DNC in group situations as a tiebreaker The new DDs hierarchy is probably something like: Top tier: SAM, THF, DNC, Ryuno DRG Good: MNK NIN BLU non-Ryuno DRG Adequate: WAR DRK PUP BST Situational: RNG COR BLM SMN While you counted steps, and neglected Feint and conspirator, I agree with everything else.
Quetzalcoatl.Valli said: » While you counted steps, and neglected Feint and conspirator, I agree with everything else. Fair point, worth noting. DNC Waltzes also could be useful, but probably a very minor consideration for DD focus (since if you're playing DNC to DD you probably wanna ride Saber Dance anyway...). It's something though, like last night when my WHM got killed and I swapped on the fly to heal party with Divine Waltz II for a couple minutes while WHM got back up. THF and DNC are both undeniably great DDs now though! Question: has anybody looked closely at the math for how Sandung stacks up now? That 5% WSD is obviously a LOT more powerful now, certainly gave the dagger a buff. Drk is not on the same tier as Pup :(
Well, here's the thing. Sandung was simply bad because it was straight up bad. The WSD was always cool. If agi were str, if eva was acc/att if the delay was 176. It'd be worth it.
However, Atoyac exists, which has 12 DEX and WSD aug on top of the EPIC oat40. Also, the Iziikoh is the dagger dreams are made of. While the sandung would add... 500 damage to a stacked Rudra it just offers nothing at all to white damage. Now there's also less JA delay from maneuvers, and Stringing Pummel is as good a WS as ever. If you're able to get any damage contribution from the puppet, PUP is pretty solid (particularly using RNG automaton and Armor Shatterer for good damage and DEF down for entire group). I'd bring a good PUP over a good DRK in a lot of situations. Main issue with PUP is it's tricky to keep DD puppets alive on anything of consequence, but that might be changing in Jan update (dev comments have mentioned several automaton changes that seem to be coming soon). Significant contribution from the puppet might bump PUP up even further as a pretty competitive DD. I feel legitimately bad for DRK right now, really needs a buff. to a lesser extent WAR, but idk maybe there's some new 1h Axe potential with these changes? |
