Just tried 3 times... failed. Had everything wiki and youtube videos did. Tried having my pet attack maat while I focus on its pet, oddly, I could only get its pet down to 80% or so before it really was able to hit me. Then 3rd time I had my pet kill Maats pet, which worked, managed to get 2 rampages off on maat, but not a 3rd before maat had his pet up and I died. Used blink banks, attack food, hp regen, hi potions, Even had stoneskin up. Just doesnt seem to really work. My "guess" is the Taru low HP is whats killing me. So frustrating. Also wondering why Wiki ppl talk about using Zeta pet food.. something that a level 66 couldnt even use. Yet they claimed they used that in their 66 fight.

Anyways, just feel crappy tonight, spent all day skilling up for the fight, then to fail. =/ So just looking for advice. Thanks.

I don't know anything about the BST fight but if you're really struggling with it you might consider attempting the fight as WHM. I did it for my mule with no magic/combat skills lvld, less than 200k in gear, no need for consumables. Just buy some PDT stuff, a few cure potency+ pieces, and make sure to keep regen/protect up all the time.

The testimonials on pet food might just be out dated. They didn't always have a level requirement iirc.

why not wait til 70 if having troubles?

you shouldn't get hit more than once on bst, so should be able to do fine on taru.
make sure you use a pet that caps out at 66 or higher.
The only items I went in with was 6 hi potions and 8 dawn mulsums and only used 2 mulsums the whole fight.

The important thing is always assist your pet and spam snarl whenever it's up.

stand at max distance and have your pet attack maat's pet so your pet gets hate on both.
then run up and also engage maat's pet. I would save TP because maat's pet should die quickly.
When maat's pet dies, use fight command on maat so your pet attacks.
at this time use any potions you need to or a biscuit/dawn mulsum for your pet.
then engage maat. it's a good idea to wait for snarl to be up before weaponskilling so you can rampage and instantly snarl so he goes right back to hitting your pet.
if maat summons another pet you should disengage use fight command on his 2nd pet and then auto attack his 2nd pet. continue to spam snarl when its up.
When his second pet is dead use fight command on maat and use more meds if needed then focus back on maat.

you just want your pet to tank the whole time, using mulsums and spamming snarl is a pretty sure fire way to beat it.

It's basically the same strategy that you were using when you got the furthest on your 3 tries just make sure that when he summons the 2nd pet you focus on that one and kill it then go back to maat. Good Luck!

OP, I don't know much about bst, but you can technically level all the way to 70 before you HAVE to do Maat. There are gear options that open up and such at 70 as opposed to 66. Just some food for thought. GL :D

make sure to /ignorepet on, blink band, opponeck sleep ect as allways. 2HR sic pet after Maat <Lifedrinker Lars>, attack his petyourself, it usualy goes down quickly, spam snarl everytime its up, when his pet dies, pop a potion/elixer/w/e ya need to heal, run back Rampage, snarl again, pop tp wing, Rampage. he should go down quickly, bring some dawn muslims and reward food, and have Lars tp move as soon as he gets to 100%. most the time Maat will pop the bunny or fly.

mind ya its been a few years since ive done it on BST so this strat could be outta date

Near capped Weapons
Pet reward food
a few Bottle Of Dawn Mulsum

Send pet in vs maat > then pet.

Sleep to 100 TP > WS pet > TP WING WS on pet. Pet dead work on Maat

Also the difference between a level 66 BST and a level 70 BST is big.

The pet may have a cap of 75 but normally spawns 2-3 level below your current level. So fighting maat at 66 your pet is only 64ish. And you fighting a level 70 mob in maat so that's like fighting a VT vs an EVEN prey if you level up to level 70.

Guess Ill work more to get it to 70 then.. @doubles thanks for tip on dawn mulsums. I didnt have those. that alone couldve helped me keep pet alive long enough to try to get a 3rd WS off.. tho "seems" rampage only let me do like 189 dmg... odd eh? Thats with Yellow Curry too.

Also I know WHM is pure <3 for Maat. Did that with my main char heh. Was like super easy. Alt only has thf and bst.

BST Maat isn't one I would recommend doing under level. Too much of a disadvantage having the pet so low level. But once you get 70, it's easy as ***using the above strategies.

which pet are you using also? like above make sure your pet max level is equal to or above yours...dawn muslums are your friend...no cool down timer on them you could actually stand back and let your pet do the entire fight with those (you shouldn't time out but would take alil longer) but they also get expensive. on a side note, what level is your thf?? if you haven't beat maat once yet all you have to do is a successful steal from him on thf to win, you don't have to kill him

Courier Carrie (pld mob)will not die easily and does good damage
Lifedrinker Lars (war mob)does great damage at that level as previously stated
Homunculus is kinda a balance of the two, higher damage than CC survives more than LL (monk mob)
Chopsuey Chucky (war mob) hits like a tank but pretty sure he dies quicker than LL
It has been a very long time since ive seen any of these jugs in play so trying to go by memory here

You probably already did this, but make sure to use Familiar right away. It helps!
