Enlighten Me: Crude Ralphie

Bear with me here since I've only been back a couple of weeks- I was just wondering if someone might be able to tell me what is going on with Crude Ralphie and this supposed awesome defense and resistance to magical attacks. I have used him several times for NMs that I knew would be doing a good bit of magic attack, but he has had it handed to him every time I've used him. Gooey and Falcor have had significantly higher survivability and have much better damage dealing at the same time in every situation that I've used Ralphie in- even if I'm spamming Harden Shell to beef up his DEF. I am probably out of the loop here, but I'd love some feedback as to what is going on with Ralphie. Thank you BST friends :)

I felt he was just a mascot jug like Slippery Silas...

Raphlie sucks! Use falcor! Dawns if DMG is to much for reward cool down handle

He's only useful for defense down debuff from tortoise stomp really.

Thanks guys- I honestly could find nothing online about him other than the Wiki's exaggerated claims on his tanking ability. Glad to know that there is an overall understanding that he shouldn't really be used for tanking unless, I suppose, some really weird situational circumstances that require def. down.

Tortoise stomp def down is 25%
Corrosive ooze def down is 33%

Raphie has some slight lightning resistance and some strong earth and stronger water resistance. However he takes greater magical damage in general than many pets. Gooey takes the least magical damage of any pet, broncha is second.

Raphie does have high physical defense, and harden shell increases it by 50%. However raphie's HP is not all that great.

Overall gooey is a much better tank. I suspect that SE did what they usually do w/ BST. When they are adding something that sounds really cool, they have to nerf it really badly.

Raphie should have HP like nazuna IMO, but it doesn't. Oh also raphie's job is pld, not war like most our pets.

It is similar w/ how dapper Mac is kinda pathetic. Its a monk w/ the store to trait of a samurai... But they took away all the good ready moves...

Just further evidense that someone at se is really scared of BST.
