I havent recently returned to the game and I keep reading and seeing all this about how beastly and amazing the bst jobs is in dyna and its loleasymode.... but all I can seem to figure out is... I suck.

I have tried a few times to get in and do the time mobs and honestly in 3 or 4 attempts (in citys if that matters) I have only succeeded in going 5/5 one time but I died immediately after due to link to a link to a link. My pet just jumps from mob to mob no focus even spamming fight I am having terrible luck.

Is there any info/videos out there that can help me out? I need city clears for glacier, glacier for xarc and xarc for thf, nin etc AF2 drops

I'd say Dyna Valkurm is probably the best dyna for BST. The time mobs are usually spread out and you can usually kill them with little to no link issues. With enough -pdt your pet should be able to tank and kill several links though.

Cities are terrible for currency farming. Stick to the CoP dreamlands zones (Qufim, Valkurm, Buburimu). Much easier time extension placement and proc system.

Not much you can do other than spam fight on the TE mob. If you got enough TP can use sheep song if your using Nazuna to sleep adds. You can use run wild if you get a lot of adds and know your pet wont last long. To get rid of links without aggro just run far away and release your pet. Make sure you don't use assault on other mobs for this to work.

You can solo the city zones but duo makes it much easier. Glacier your definately going to need a few people.

For city zone bosses make sure you stun death with violent flourish. Also use run wild to strengthen your pet. Fight won't last 5 minutes and it helps a lot. Also when you pop the boss your pet will despawn so make sure your call beast timer is ready.

Does fight count as a JA in dyna, or does it have to be a TP move? What can BST do about MA procs, nothing?

Fight won't stagger if that's what you mean. Has to be a ready move(from pet) or Step/Flourish/Feral Howl(?) on Bst/Dnc.

Nothing you can do about magic stagger with the right sub for Dynamis, they suck to get anyways though.
edit: Does Gauge work for stagger? Honestly forgot it existed until half a second ago. Sort of doubt it would work, but not positive, never bothered to try it myself. Also still unsure about Feral Howl, assuming it lands on anything now.

So looks like I was doing that wrong then. went in to Bubu doing WSs, instead of steps. Only got 5 currency total lol. Also I only got 4 TEs instead of 5.

I swear I killed all the possible random ones, but I must have missed one. So for example, each orc/yag group w/e has two stones. Which one is the TE? How do you knwo which area has the TE? Just have to kill all and see?

So.
Go in, kill all TEs, farm JA mobs, end?

The correct TE will be named differently and will check as "Impossible to gauge". You're probably missing the 20 minutes TE which will randomly appear in any of the DC beastmen camps.

Yeah, I know they rotate. I wasnt expecting much out of my first run aside from getting used to dyna again.

Forgot about checking for impossible to guage on the stats, I remember reading that too.

Is there a better zome to farm? I picked Bubu since I was near it. Eft>Scorp>Uragnites are all terrible mobs to kill fast, and yully/falcor got hit pretty hard even when I switched to PDT gear, which slows down kills even faster.

Thanks for the tips.

Valkurm seems to be the most popular. Qufim/Buburimu reach their "capacity" much faster than Valkurm does.

So did Valk this morning, fairly flawlessly as procedure goes I suppose. Fly,Hipp,Manti. Wasnt terrible, but felt a little slow, maybe due to my meh TP build.

Came out with 85 coins. How far from average is that lol? Are 100s pretty rare? Got a crap ton of AF, and only a couple Forgottens.

2hrs for 500k isnt horrible I guess.

On average I'd say I usually get out with around 40 of each kind of currency, usually with whichever currency I time out on being around 50. 500k isn't bad for your first few times. I'd say I average about 700k a run.

As far as big money, I've done probably 15 runs in the past 2 months and we've had big money drop twice. If you don't have moepapa stone yet you can try your hand at getting it to drop off Fairy Ring while you farm moepapa (which itself, sells around 1M anyway so either drop would be nice). We haven't seen Moepapa drop yet but we did get the big money drop from him. - You can proc him with pet ability and pet can solo him; be careful meleeing him yourself.

I would have to disagree. I get 300-1k a day out of a city. It stays somewhat empty. I d-box it and unfortunatly, have to get rather agrresive with my camps.

Shame you are not on Fenrir, I'd be happy to take you for a few runs until you feel ready to solo.
Just a quick bit of info about TE's in Qufim, Valk & Buru, they are found in the following [Easy] beastmen camps, Orc-Warchief Tombstone, Yag-Avatar Idol, Quad-Adamking Image, Goblin-Goblin Statue & are the 10 minute TE's. There are other 'Simulacrum' about, Goblin Replica for eg, ignore them.
The 20 minute TE can be any one of the above but will be found in any one of the above [DC] beastmen camps, this means you will have 4 @ 10 minutes & 1 @ 20 minutes giving you all 5 TE's & making procs much easier. As has already been mentioned
no point trying to farm unless you have all 5 TE.
There are a few ways to avoid getting links when you do your TE's, you can wait until any links have moved away or have turned their backs or else use Ranged if the coast is clear to pull the TE to a safe spot, [Bst can use & equip Bow & arrows], I've found this to be better than Fight/Heel at times.
You will have times when everything seems to go wrong, you wind-up ko'd with a DC Orc Mnk stood on your face [be aware, some of these DC can drop you & your pet faster than you can blink] & please don't aggro Smn, if you do, move well away, [like 50 miles . . .] or else you 'lose' your proc but thankfully they are few & far between. Dynamis is a steep learning curve but once you start to get your confidence you will wonder why you worried. Forget about all these hero's who get 300+ per run, be content to claim/proc/kill at first & expect 80-120 with up to 180+ possible once you are experienced.
I wish you all the very best, don't worry about what others are doing & do check each zone before you go in, if it seems crowded stay away, it's better to have 2hrs unstressed than stressed because everyone is crowding the zone.

Sure, i tri-box BRD THF RDM and Sac pull only NMs over and Over and oVeR. Can get unlucky some days with 0-1, but i average 3. Sure its probably not the most consistance for tri box but meh, i like the rain days of 6-12(12 being my best thus far) I can pull every NM in the zone from the palace on a weakend bard, ;/ have fun

First off. Try to wait for a window where you can get your pet on the TE without aggroing the world. If you do aggro a bunch of stuff, make sure to only hit Fight a slight moment after your pets auto attack. This will heavily increase the probability that your next pets auto attack will hit the TE. They do not have much health so you only need to that a few times, afterwards you can let the pet die, or leave, and lose the adds.

Gear does make a difference, while not needed for dyna the pet pdt magian axes would be helpful since they have high damage as well (assuming you are not doing VW yet, there is a relatively easy to obtain DD axe if so). You also want to try and get the twilight set head/body for reraise when things go bad. And there is also the addon armor that you can begin to build your pet set with.

Always grab a reraise from FOV book before you go in. Always bring a reraise scroll. Buy a reraise earring. You do not want your farm cut short because of a surprise death or bad pull, it happens.

Remember your pet's Ready ability can proc JA mobs. Always do search in the area you intend to farm, there are only a few viable camps for your gear/play level/job. Things open up more when you get out of the city dyna's. When you get the city clears try to get your hands on a pair of the relic gloves, buy the items to +2 them (cheap) and macro them in before you summon any jug.

trolololol @ me
So it didnt hit me until Jeu said something.
I've been fighting at the DC camps, and not the EP. I guess that explains why I was killing slow and only getting ~100 pieces. lololherp

Though switching over to EP camp is much quicker, almost too quick to proc, theres competition. So yeah, i'll have to watch my time and sea whos in there before entering now.

/palm

In any case.

It takes me about 20~30 minutes to kill the TEs. Running to them, waiting for a time to attack, etc. Is that about right?

Maybe I can get some good loot now, and I wont have Cursed Sphere hitting my face for 800hp.

So I did my first solo run last night in Qufim. I had little difficulty with TEs, just aggro'd like 5 mobs killing the 4th one but caught a lucky break when NN killed the TE mob right before she got killed. I was surprised the mobs didn't came after me...

Then I had no idea that there are EP and DC versions of each mob and I spent over 30mins killing DC bats and diremites. AT some point I got aggroed by 5 bats and died (had reraise on).

After that I just had to share camps with like 4 more BST and 2 THF... Came out with around 30 of each currency. I am sure I could've be around the 130ish total mark if it wasn't because of the time wasted on DC mobs and of course the death that came because of that lol.

Gear question... Should I spend gil on 60 soil geodes I need to finish the Asfolfos or get Moepapa Stone and Sabong Earring for faster pet kills?

I don't have much gil atm, so i have to be smart on how I spend it. I want to gear my BST the best I can to do Dyna efficiently. I know I should get at least the rest of +2s and/or twilight mail. I plan on getting Mirke Wardecors & Anwig Salade after the release of the new expansion.

Here's a decent, low-cost starter set to aim for based on what I see in your profile:

Definitely upgrade those axes first for starters. The only other costly piece would be the head. Once you start making some money, you can afford some nice upgrades if you believe in spending money to make money :P

Moepapa stone is nice but you don't want to completely ignore the master's damage! It would be one of those items you can make use of once you get some upgrades.

Thanks for the advise pleebo. Got the Asfolfos last night. As far as your proposed set, it looks like you are giving priority to "the master" instead of the pet and I thought that with the pet naturally dealing more damage and with more HP than me, it is better to gear for it accordingly with -pdt, pet haste and acc.

The way I did it in dynamis was taking a mob --> JA proc --> put pet on it --> move to next mob --> repeat. Am I approaching this the wrong way?

@tamian

The pet does not 'naturally' do more damage than the master. The balance between the 2 is often quite close but it depends on what your target is. If I t is low level mobs, then your pet will actually win against you in damage. However, if it is DC or higher then master wins significantly. If you have party support (haste, brd, cor, etc.) then master will win by a long shot.

With my dd set on BST, Pet does about 40% f the damage vs, DC/em targets.

I kinda understand your point, but I was looking at it from a soloing stand point, based on raw stats/traits. Of course if I am geared all DD then I will deal more damage; same if I am in pt getting buffed...

I am talking specifically for dynamis solo farming. Isn't more efficient for me to focus on proc'ing and my pet killing the proc'ed mobs?

As far as gear, this is what I am aiming for in the short term while I get Mirke Wardecors & Anwig Salade:

Remember this is strictly for dyna solo farming...
