Probably the same reason the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary collection wasn't ported over to Blu-ray: development cost.

Doing a port isn't as simple as sending data from point A to B as there are plenty of things to consider that most consumers don't realize. And if porting these games makes them considered a new product altogether, there would be paperwork to consider including submissions to ratings boards, QA testing from Sony, music copyrights from some of the games, etc.

And after all of that, the additional cost would be passed to the consumer, which they would whine about anyhow.

And on a sidenote, there's nothing wrong with a PSP game, especially in a Japanese collection. Most American don't and probably will never realize the PSP had some of the best games. Even some of the games released stateside were stellar but nobody will realize it because of some outdated stigma.

I have nothing against the PSP, but its not exactly something people still have.

I get your point though, JPs still use and love the PSP and not so much the vita.

This won't be getting a US release and rightfully so, it would bomb pretty bad here unless you are just getting it to show off. Having to have a Ps2, ps3 and a psp just to be able to play all the games kills it.

This damn thing costs 450 dollars. You could get all the games for way cheaper then that and are basically just paying for an art book.

Yeah, you're probably right about this collection not being released outside Japan, which is a real shame. I'm sure plenty of people still own a sleeping PS2 somewhere and can afford a used PSP if they could afford this collection.

And there are so many reasons to love the PSP if you speak Japanese or are able to mod one and download the fan translations for its best games.

And then there's this:

Deeper than Street Fighter 4, better team mechanic than Street Fighter X Tekken or Tekken Tag 2, there's a reason why one of its sequel, Gundam Extreme VS Full Boost, is the #1 arcade game in Japan. I still play it on all my commutes and I don't need to know a word of Japanese.

Because I've played both and these modern Gundam VS games have the same kind of fundamentals like footsies, pokes, spacing and a combo system that has plenty of cancels and links you'd need to practice. The guns are no different in use than Hadoukens or pokes and are used in combos with sword and fists pretty much the same way.

It also has advanced movement tricks, feints and because its an active 2 vs 2, things like team composition according to role and cost, cutting, death order (yes your team has to decide who would die first) and general teamwork come into play.

The video above is only in single-player mode. Believe me, put competent human players into the mix and the game gets fast and frantic. This series is way closer to Street Fighter or Tekken than it is to something like CoD. I really hope you're not seeing the targeting reticle and actually thinking you have to aim with a second stick like a FPS :(

On a sidenote, this isn't even Extreme VS or the current #1 arcade in Japan, Extreme VS Full Boost. That game has even more to offer and is highly competitive.
