FINAL FANTASY XI Version Update (Oct. 22)
90 Voidstones per month! Enjoy it! I'll join only 15 (non-profitable) shuots per month :)
Cerberus.Tikal said: » @Blurr: It would surprise me if they sold even 10% of what they accrue. When I first started leeching exp back when, paying for it, I got in kinda "tight" with the group. Helped them with ally leader a bunch because of connection issues they had and etc. Basically instead of paying and afking, I just had to pay attention to screen here and there. In talking with them over weeks, I learned a lot about their "process" and Im trying not to be vivid in my saying what im saying / said.. Trust me, a lot more than 10% gets out.. its more like 20, 30% NOT getting out actually. I hardly noticed anything wrong with the economy, that is I was able to enjoy it in spite of this "blinker" madness. I didn't and don't use my cruor to make money, but if this blinker nerf has a huge effect on the game (even more crowded dynamis zones, complete death of voidwatch etc.) this enjoyment could all be over, and for what? Balance? A stable economy in a digital world? I'm enjoying FFXI right now and I don't want stupidity like this nerf to ruin it. I'm not saying it's certainly will, but I'd sure hate for my time in FFXI to end due to something as lazy as this "fix". @Blurr: It would surprise me if they sold even 10% of what they accrue. I agree something needs to be done if there are problems in the economy, but I don't know if this update was the correct course of action. I'm just unsure as to what the big economic problem is, sure I see minor flaws, but it will never be perfect. Am I the only one oblivious to some major economic FFXI flaw? Also, the biggest question I have, and I'm sure I'm not alone, is why nerf them now? All in all, I don't care about blinkers nerf, but I don't like the reasoning behind it, nor do I want it to negatively impact my gameplay. @Blurr: People are dumber than I thought then. People are printing gil left and right with no repercussions and we have idiots buying it for actual money.
I'm not disagreeing with you by the way, I do agree that RMT needs to be handled – but I see it is a lesser threat, with higher demands on personnel, than other issues. I don't think by not taking care of RMT, we're able to say: "they're not trying." I see them trying and formulating positive strategies toward cleaning up the game – something I haven't been able to say since the end of Abyssea. Between this, Perfect Defense/Embrava nerf, and I'd bet money on a fishing nerf, SE is on a track toward recovery. It's not as simple as those three issues though – there's a lot more to it than just those. Someone could write a dissertation or two on it. @Ell: Inflation. We have massive amounts of gil in the economy and very little things are desired anymore for a multitude of reasons. Did you not see the SS from Cerberus (Hur hur, my server's notoriety disgusts me sometimes) of a mule with max'd gil, who had 3 10,000 pieces, HQ Adaberk and other high-tier desirable items for 1g in their bazaar? No one could buy it because the mule couldn't receive anymore gil. That is a very negative note on the game's health. So...will this affect the going rate of Voiddust sales?

I guess it just doesn't seem to effect a player like me or at least I don't feel it. I don't know, maybe I just think there are better ways of handling it. /shrug It is nice to actually see SE do something about it though, I admit that. Fenrir.Mefuki said: » So...will this affect the going rate of Voiddust sales? Hope so If the gil issue isn't dealt with, there won't be anything left to handle. It affects you in everything you do. From gauging the feasibility of a goal, to time/effort ratios, to your peers, to your purchasing power. Unless you're intentionally existing outside of the FFXI economy, you'd be hard-pressed to find an instance where it doesn't affect you.
The validity of gil has been sliding with the shift to R/EX items and Abyssea straight into Voidwatch.
A lack of demand is partly why gil hasn't been changing hands quite as much as it should in addition to the lack of gilsinks outside the few people who have gone for 99 R/M/Es. SEs problem is that these nerfs always come with few upsides for players other than plugging a leak in the game. A city dynamis update would have compensated the base by giving people more space to farm currency which will naturally be the next best place to farm gil. This so much. Can we please get some decent camps in city zones to spread out the pile of pearl bst that make the only consistent source of gil many of us have less of a headache? Spending hours and hours farming cruor and doing blinkers to afford things that are overpriced because of all the gil people are pouring in makes more people resort to things like fishbots. An update on the crafting of hexed gear would definately be nice as well. Losing half a mil on an nq is HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE considering only hq can be augmented.
At least they are aware of the issues even if they SUCK at fixing them. The main problem is how Square Enix handled the change. SE should have provided the player base with a general idea of how they plan to deal with the obvious ramifications of the change. It would have been nice if they introduced something positive like plans to add Heavy Metal Plates/Pouches, Riftdross and Riftcinder to more mobs, etc.

Cause you're all professional game developers with masters in economincs... I'm pretty sure any of you that are complaining are most likely just upset that you ACTUALLY have to work for your gil. I've done chocoblinkers a couple times but navigating that damn NPC is annoying and I stopped after the 3rd drop-off. Plus most of you just sit in FC parties all day while you sleep, you barely even work for that cruor. Stop being so upset and play the freaking game, it's been a lot A LOT worse than this before and we've been going on 7 more years already. Who remembers P.charms selling for 30M? And they sold all day! Sit back, relax, see how things play out. I'm sure Square-enix is trying to some sort of degree or they wouldn't have imposed what they did in the update. Give em some credit. Trust me, they aren't my favorite people in the world either. Go outside maybe?

Yeah let's go ahead and ban everyone who decides to run a FC party. That's some ***, not ONLY RMT do FC parties, and they used to ban people for even BEING in FC parties, obviously that didn't work out as I'm sure they were flooded with complaints. an update of nothing but negitive and bug fixes. think i'm done with the game until the next expansion pack comes out.

Sounds pretty stupid to me...You don't go and tell a drug dealer how you're going to take him down and then expect yourself to be successful. Sorry, not how the world works. Bismarck.Danz said: » an update of nothing but negitive and bug fixes. think i'm done with the game until the next expansion pack comes out. Boo-hoo, you can't bot your gil anymore. Go craft or farm. SE took the lesser of the two evils in this case. They COULD raise the cap in Abyssea, but it would affect honest players in a game that essentially has it's low to mid leveling content dead, but people would still be introducing funny money into the economy like post WW1 Germans and their $1,000ish loafs of bread. Much easier to simply lower the rates of return from crour conversion, as honest players will stay away from it due to the effort and small returns, while RMT will be that much easier to spot as they'll continue to nickle and dime the system at every chance. I'm not a rocket scientist or nothing so I might need a slighty-stupid dumbed down version of what you said. I understand all of that and I still can't say I feel the effects of it, but maybe that's because I do Dynamis for gil and it's still more than I've ever made in FFXI in my years of playing. Emergency Update but somehow all the RMT knew this beforehand and chocoblinked all their millions of cruor and are overcoming this better then we are... Why is this? How come the RMT are completely un-affected by this? Freaking watch them or something, see how they make gil, do what they do.
This update comes right before that Embrava/PD patch that will affect some groups. New guy is starting his tenure trying to undo Tanakas shitpile by utilizing Tanaka-style nerfs coupled with promises that "everything will sort itself out".
Not exactly the best PR campaign. |
