When you are asked to link to a spreadsheet that you are using in an argument, it's normal to link it. Especially one that's 100+ pages into a guide.

The spreadsheets are also inaccurate, all of them are. There isn't a single up to date one that isn't inaccurate. They are not valid to use in any argument or discussion and need to stop being used.

Ok, so spreadsheet results are inaccurate, how are you gonna have a dps discussion then? Eyeball?
Maybe you could provide a way to determine better way to gear.

Regardless of how inaccurate spreadsheets are Id rather rely on it than the opinion of another guy on the internet who has a long history of eyeballing dps and claiming Savage blade cor is on par with REMA BLU.
Parsers exist for a reason.

I wish Afania would just get banned already. He just gets into threads on jobs he either doesnt actively play, or has no evidence that he does. He already ruined drk forums, now is aiming for nin. What a miserable life he must live to bash on people all day, especially when they do nothing but try and help the community.

The community can see I actively play nin, and I never claim to be right. I think I nearly always say where I got my info. I dont make outrageous claims either, I know for a fact my dps went up about 25% soloing apex crabs, went from 900 to 1200~. For me thats a hge improvement and I know its from sc dmg alone, which is where the power of kujaku+1 comes from.

Many post of mine include things such as my parse data. I try and controls my variables as much as you can in this game. I dislike spreed sheets because I view them as in accurate of real situations. Thats why I spend hours testing stuff for myself vs myself. I have a very good base on numbers using apex mobs, so i continue to do it there, that and selkit from the 100's I solo monthly for fern augment stones. So when me + always the same trusts see a large dps increase over an hr of cp/testing/farming, I know with my personal play style I have done a good improvement.

I really hope you can find happiness in your life Afania and stop bashing on everyone on these forums. I want ffxi to thrive and not have people afraid to post ideas/tests etc on these forums. You are causing that to stop. Please stop!

Just because I said your information has flaw then you proceed with 3 paragraph of personal attack? Ok.

I also have to point out 2 other people in this thread said exact same thing I said, I'm not the only one pop on the forum and post opinions against your claim.

Exactly what I said is "bashing" you, outside of saying you are eyeballing? While on the other hand you personal attack by calling others has miserable life, ok.

it's not 20% DA because it procs after real TA/DA..

my tp set has 2 QA, 26 TA, 33 DA..

that means

2% chance of 4 hits

.98 * .26 = 25.48% chance of 3 hits

.7252 * .33 = 23.9316% chance of 2 hits

this leaves 48.5884% of your hits not already multiattacking

only half of those hits are going to be with your offhand, which means 24.2942% of your swings have a chance to proc blurred

40% procrate means you'll get an extra swing out of it 9.71768% of your attack swings

then you have to factor that it's not even a real 9.7% increase in #/attacks, because your attack average before that is:

4 * .02
+
3 * .2548
+
2 * 23.9316
+
1 * 48.5884

1.808916

now, you take 1.9060928 and divide it by 1.808916 and you have the real boost in quantity/attacks: 5.37% (less if you factor daken..)

Afania btw, this is a useful post and makes sense. I still think its overlooking somethings but not sure what, because I can assure my tp gain rate went up a lot more than 5%~ I have never been able to 4 step w/o trusts before (capped haste) and I did last night a few times.... nin/war no trusts.

Using the NIN DPS spreadsheet with the gear I have and +10 Store TP (from ninjutsu).

w/ Kanaria - 3.43 rounds/WS
w/ Kujaku +1 - 3.57 rounds/WS

Seems like placebo to me.

Alright, spreadsheets are totally accurate, if thats what you want to believe. Still isn't going to stop me from using kujaku +1 though.

The spreadsheet is WRONG.

The guy literally parsed himself against himself using different weapons.

That's FACTUAL ACCURATE DATA. You can't get anymore accurate than that.

The spreadsheet probably isn't wrong. The data being input is.

Context: solo with no trust

Missing variable: 15% haste from weapon proc

The end, mystery solved.

I do enjoy how literally everyone is being a larger *** than Afania, but Afania is apparently the worst person on the forums because they post, usually accurate, math about achieving higher dps in dps threads.

As if dps in this game is achieved in drastically different ways from job to job.

Yes, everyone is being a huge ***. But to think that Afania is right, is just comical.

Every thread turns into the same ol ***every time, everyday. If dude wants to use his blurred and thinks its *** epic. let him do it. Your opinions don't matter.

If no one is going to verify spreadsheet data, afania's math just isnt good enough, sorry.

Really tired of the same ***in every thread.

Spreadsheets are based on what a bot would do against a wall. Regular people don't play mechanically perfect.

I mean, I literally said Afania goofed on this one, but who needs reading comprehension?

Tldr one weapon provides 15% magic haste and none of the others do, in a solo situation without trusts, blurred +1 is actually pretty ***' good.

Ok how about this, spreadsheet is wrong, I am wrong, Azagarth and Lenus is right, end of discussion.

Regardless of the outcome of this dps discussion I'm still going to respectfully express disappointment toward some people's disrespectful comment that's basically personal attack.

Some people prefer hard data such as spreadsheet, math or parse result(I do), some people dont. Therefore when I see certain comment thats being presented as an universal fact but not being backed up by spreadsheet, math nor parse data it's only natural for me to question it.

Therefore it's disappointing to see disrespectful comment like this:

Not just get in and start virtual shouting "idiot, loser, hate, more hate, I kick kittens and make babies cry". You understand this?

What a miserable life he must live

Appearantly people not just disagree with my spreadsheet and math approach in a dps discussion, but they feel like they have to twist the meaning of my word and start personal attack about life because they disagree with my opinion.

I actually went back and read every single post in this discussion, the only thing I see is my opinion about OAT weapons based on Spreadsheet result, followed by massive amount of anti spreadsheet opinion and personal attack, demanding my account banned etc.

It is fact that I didn't present my opinion with "congrats!!!!" which is probably my fault. I'm very straight to the point on forum and Id rather focus on the point in a discussion instead spending time to "social" in a forum discussion. And I can understand why people are pissed off, because it's human nature that people will not be happy to see others disagree with their opinion.

That being said, I think some of the comments are going too far.

I always enjoy using FFXIAH forum, and participate in math and dps discussions to explore solutions for better dps. I also appreciate people who worked hard to bring this community close together. I've learned a lot about FFXI here as well, thanks to the awesome people that provided valuable info. But more often then not I found massive amount of offensive languages in discussions very discouraging. People that I've met in this game (and irl) that I interacted with are rarely like that, and I don't understand why people are so hostile here.

Anyways, after a very long consideration, I've decided to leave FFXIAH altogether. Maybe it's better for all of us. Thanks for the awesome 6 years of service and FFXI advice.
I will probably be very sad that I no longer have a place to post my COR findings, but it's probably still better than reading personal attacks on forum or in PM everytime I say something.

Math is wrong when the formulas aren't correct and are outdated, yes.
Spreadsheets are wrong and outdated.

If spreadsheets were accurate, then people wouldn't be getting completely different results in game testing with parsers...

@Afania, when you constantly come into threads and basically tell people their decisions are bad and they wasted all their time on their mythic weapons and shouldn't even use them because they suck and should be using X instead, do do you honestly expect people not to dislike you?

You can't just go around making people feel bad and stomping on their accomplishments then expect them not to lash back at you.

Holy ***, did you see my post where I pointed out that the 15% haste wasn't accounted for on the spreadsheet? And as thus, was wrong?

Congratulations, there's that variance figured out.

As I've said for the third time now.

I didn't. I said nothing about Kylo's scythe in DRK thread and I said nothing about Aza's Blurred. I made comment about BLU and COR job and OAT weapon's(in general) rank and that's it. 7+ years of playing I don't recall I've ever pop in front of someone and tell them their weapon is bad right in their face. I only rank weapons in dps discussions on forum.

It is fine if you don't like me, I don't expect to please everyone in this world, you could just block or blist instead of being hostile.

There are differences between being blunt (Afania) and being rude (most everyone attacking Afania).
Could Afania have danced around the calculations with flowery language to ensure everyone felt all warm and fuzzy? Sure, but either Afania doesn't think that way or typing on a phone makes that more difficult. Either way, get over yourselves.
As had been said, this is a job guide. Most players pop in here to quickly see what is the best set-up for killing the fake monsters and stealing their imaginary loot. Where the conversation began (I think this HQ weapon is making me SC faster and more consistently while solo without trusts) was great. Where it descended to (OMG let people just have fun, even if doing so results in fewer fake monsters killed and less imaginary loot) was useless.
Oddly enough, it has the potential to turn around and bring value, as the missing 15% haste was rediscovered. It is a good weapon (when you are doing some not fodder... solo without trusts...).
Let it end here, while it still has value.
And anyone that is taking so much effort to tear Afania down because they perceived Afania to be tearing someone else down, take a good long look in a mirror. You made it personal. Afania was just discussing the numbers.
