I'm not mad over the change. I'm mad that some people out there think this is a big enough deal to celebrate. Way to go SE, keep coddling those casuals!

Someone earlier made a comment to the effect saying it's absurd to take life lessons from a video game... I'd counter and say take them wherever you can get them. If you learned the world isn't fair, that reading is fundamental, and that any deal that looks too good to be true likely is a scam well then... you're ahead of the curve...

Not quite what I said. It was more a comment on how ridiculous inflated the conversation became over the announcement of an extremely minor change as the one in the OP. If you're surprised at the amount of support for it, then I (and many other posters) am totally amazed at the amount of dissenters.

And yes, it's incredibly funny, as well.

This thread makes my head hurt.

Mainly because it's an update coming this monday, and I think people should know about it.

If anything the people being disruptive should be topic banned before the thread is locked.

I just want the fighting and name calling to stop, but I get that buying singles at 100's price is a hot topic atm... even though it's really not a new thing.

Well I can't lock threads even if I did want to lock it. If I wanted to lock it I would have to ask a mod, and none have been online today.

I still think topic bans should be issued before the thread is locked though.

I just wanted to confirm that I never said that I was against the change.

I know this topic has been talked to death (about scamming, the intelligence of players, etc.) given it has passed the 9-page mark...but to put perspective on it, it's not entirely about scamming by players or people not being attentive enough to avoid scamming.

Back in the day, when I collected bynes (back when Dynamis Bastok was the easiest one) I would often end up making 'change' for people or exchanging currency. One time (admittedly while I was rushed) I made the mistake of giving a pile of 'change' in bynes as 100's instead of singles. Luckily the person noticed and was very honest and gave them back LOL. For certain I never ever ever made that mistake again and would always check.

Then there is the anecdote from Fdeath...

...on this very site about inadvertently exchanging single bynes to the goblin in Beadeux along with 100-bynes and actually getting one of the goblin's items. :/

So really, in my mind, while one could easily doubt my own intelligence or Fdeath's in these cases, it's just about visual cues and visual identification. Some people will take advantage of that for sure, and I am sure (as mentioned) it was likely done so SE would field less GM calls on this, but even if there was an absence of scammy players this type of error still can occur even when interacting just with NPC's or even honest players.
