Struggling To Find Right Background Settings

Im hoping someone can help me here.. ive just got a new pc and using the resolution 1600 x 900

Im going to be dual boxing so need to have both screens visible on the desktop side by side.
Like So:


Thats the easy bit!! I can get the screen size of 800x600 and the background is ok to run at 2048x2048 (apparently) but for some reason the menu looks horrible

its either stretched..
or wayy to big and distorted


(windower gui wont work) and every time i try the ffxi gui it always loads at 800x600 .. so any tips, reg edits etc i can use would be grateful and muchos thanks

try changing the background aspect ratio from in-game settings, see which one works best.

i thought that but that doesnt really change the menu just the aspect ratio..

Im trying various different settings.. I think ive got it, by not selecting a menu resolution in ffxi gui..

think it might fix it.. ill see once ive fiddled other bits and bobs.. (and redone the reg edits)

I had this same problem using Windower, I actually just made a post on Win.net about it after months of struggling. I finally got the aspects right but it DESTROYED My Font size, Chat menu size and omg my PT size is so small I cant even read who is who on my PT list on the bottom right of my screen. I fixed my chat menu and gave up. Everything else is distorted mainly my PT menu. Makes Windower TP/MP views so off its not even funny. When i'm in an alli there TP is like 3-5 inches off of that characters slot. Pretty much have to count down the menu list and the TP list just to see who has what TP. :(

i THINK.. ive fixed it.. when you choose the menu ratio.. you get options like

----
512x512
1024x1024
2048x2048

Dont actually chose one.. keep it at -----

that way the menu will be in context with your aspect ratio!! least it has with me..
