Not really.

actually, really. xp-gain curves have been increased for traditional parties, xp-loss amounts for KO have been adjusted, most all quest/mission paths & battles can be 1-manned, HNMs are now force pops, can now warp to almost any zone in game through abyssea & vw warps, nobody lives in whitegate anymore, most "primo gear" from 2009 and before can now be replaced with better gear bought from ah for <100k.

the game is an entirely different beast now. there's absolutely no reason to devolve, other than the person just doesn't want to evolve. its like the 87yr old cat lady that still clings to her VCR. it's silly.

as it has been said by myself & others tho, good luck in your endeavors & adventures, and maybe you will be able to find a group of like-minded people.

XP gain remains unchanged for mobs that are T+. XP loss reduced? So? Most missions could have been soloed at 75, and you can still level sync if you so choose for CoP. HNMs are the only thing that is completely different to the point I wouldn't bother. And big deal, I can now warp to camp instead of running for thirty minutes. And no, not really since all the gear you're talking about is 75+.

that IS a big deal....since foot travel & getting to camps was half the battle for the first 8yrs of this game's existence. the whole idea of the game's evolution is to be less time-intensive & more fitting for a player base that has aged as much as the game has.

i wasn't under the impression that this dude was intending people to join his ls & just cap their jobs @ 75. he was referring to returning to old school party structure for xp gain & for content. unless i misunderstood that....

Traveling to camps was always a drag and should have been remedied at 75 to start with. So it's less time consuming to get to camp? Big deal, still doesn't take away from the 6 man party style which is the whole point.

And no, he just wants to party up to 75, or at least level sync to 75 max.

Assuming people actually spoke to each other, yeah. There was something fun about pulling imps on DRK with poison in Caedarva Mire, that just doesn't exist anymore.

I hate exping now.

EDIT

I'd be all over it, if I was on the right server.

Probably one of the biggest challenges would be to find gear to support yourself throughout the levels, at least on my server. You could probably get by on what is available but you would either have to get everything crafted for you or farm the items yourself. For someone who would want the best of the best for them to level on, it will be difficult.

First things first, I'd like to make something clear: I am NOT anti-fov, anti-gov or anti-aby. Since all of these have been released, I have enjoyed myself thoroughly. That said however, none of this new content is giving me the fix I crave.

It may be hard to understand for someone who already disliked ffxi's forced grouping, but to someone like me, the grouping, the search for camp, the grinding through mobs, competing for hate, ... these were the things that gave me enjoyment. I'll be the first to admit that the wait for a party could be horrible, the disappointment of yet another 3k/hr collection of idiots overwhelming, but I gladly accepted these for the occasional gem of a party.

And it is this gem that I am currently trying to recruit people for. Not that I'll try to find the perfect setup or expect my members to be flawless and geared accordingly. I am looking for the 4 (or more) people who are willing to take time out of their busy schedules to come together and do what is necessary to make a party work.

The biggest objection people had to xp'ing was the constant repeat of camps. This was, however, never true and doesn't need to be now either. For every level range there were at least 5 alternatives which were better and another 5 which were more fun. It is these that I wish to show people.

I also have no intention of trying to replace actual aby-parties. However, if I can replace the mindlessly boring grind that is gusgen>CN>bostanieux with something that's a little bit more organized, a little bit more diverse and actually has you playing your job instead of all turning into self-healing DD's, then more power to me, don't you agree?

Thank you all for reading this far ^.^;

Small update for those one the fence about this whole endeavour:

So far, 3 people have swapped servers and two more are in "negotiations". This puts the total on 5 confirmed and 2 possibles, which means we will be organizing our first static in the coming weekend. However, no-one will be the seventh wheel on this ride. If people join up, more statics will be organized according to timezones and possible playtimes. This is something I will go to great extents for to make a reality.

One of our founding members is also a master of camps. As a player from the first hour (even imported the game prior to release) and as a nihongo ga hanaseru gaijin, she knows camps campsitarus hasn't even heard from. She'll be available to any static requiring assistance with camp selection. FoV/GoV optional.

Finally, for the people visiting our forum http://www.thatswhatshesaid.be and finding they couldn't make an account: the problem has been resolved and we are very much looking forward to making your acquintance!

I laughed so hard when I got to this. Japanese speaking foreigner, right? Why not just type that out in English instead of romaji? Ahaha, romaji... worst choice ever. And I'm sure there were a lot of camps Campsitarus didn't know of, but, it was still a very extensive collection of camps off the beaten trail.

That said I wish you the best of luck with your six man static! I sometimes miss the oldschool exp parties, but then I remember how much they sucked (looking for the right job mates, camps being full, necessary gear not being on the auction house, *** who fake dc'd, etc) and I'm glad Abyssea exists. I'm happy to see you also enjoy FoV/GoV and Abyssea parties and are instead doing this for the nostalgia factor rather than a bitchfest factor. For that reason alone I would almost consider jumping servers just to join you on such a fun endeavor. :)

I want to suggest some people of your static leveling up smithing, goldsmithing, and clothcraft to max levels. Gear is extremely rare on the auction house now, and being able to craft your own will prove worth it in the end. I was wanting to level my Paladin the oldschool way as well, but found armor was never up. So I leveled smithing up and made my own gear. :) Level it up to at least 60 to keep heavy DDs well equipped until Artifact Armor.

Another update: I lied, we now have 6 confirmed members on Bahamut and 3 possibles!

Typed it in romaji because I suck at both japanese and writing kanji. Sometimes, it's just fun to try.

I'm also not putting Campsitarus down, as it was a very thorough collection, I was using it more as a benchmark.

Thanks for the well wishing! Like I said, I have no issues with the new content, quite the contrary, I think it has added a lot to the game. And you're always welcome to join, the more people we have the more statics will be started up.

The plan is indeed to start dividing up crafts so we are somewhat covered. I must say though, I'm surprised at how much of the more useful pieces of gear are still readily available. Weapons on the other hand, are hell to find.

Problem with this kind of shell is that a great deal of people may actually join in completely good faith, go out for a six-man party and kill bats in Garlaige or whatever for a couple hours, say "golly that sure was fun" and totally mean it, and then find the itch to be sufficiently scratched and promptly go back to Abyssea and GoV for the next 4 or 5 months.
