Usually with XI you see issues like that when a GPU is dying but seeing as the card is a new card I'd try running without the OC on both CPU and GPU and seeing if that could be the problem.
Not like you need OC'ing to run XI...unless you're on like a Ti-84...

Eh you have your OC profile saved right?
Rebooting between which game you're playing shouldn't be too much of an issue.
Assuming you're not running bot then yeah you're kinda outta luck,.

Ya looks like it was the Vcard OC, Im just using the CCC Overdrive so its easy to turn on and off. Guess the game can't handle all that power, to be expected from a 10 year old game tho. :)

Its in first post, stock is 925mhz core, 1375mhz mem.

I thought the problem was gone but it looks like its still there even without the OC. Oh well i can live with it.

God i hope not, Paid 500+ for this GPU and im not sure if its past rma, ill have to check. (Sent a email to newegg to see if they would do a replacement, tho they don't have my card any more. But ive been buying from them for 10+ years they should replace it just on good customer support.)

I'm also going to downgrade the drivers to 12.4 and see if that helps, those where the best drivers i have used before 12.7.

Downgraded to 12.4, made sure everything GPU/CPU was back to stock clocks. Everything seems to be ok for now, I will post back if im still having issues.

I had this exact same problem. Fresh install windows XP, with nvidia GTX550, 560 and AMD HD7770.

The nvidia would have low framerate and run at 66mhz all the time, never even close to using the GPU to full power.

The AMD gave the tears/artifacts as seen in screenshot + audio would crash over time, and give really bad sounds. Sound in XP was solved by using the Realtek AMD HD HDMI drivers though.

Finally i tried on a new harddrive, and installed Vista (still had a code). This seemed to have fix most issues, just tried the AMD but it works great.

So gave up on trying in XP, using vista now, and all the problems seems to have been gone.

Thx for all the help all.

It happens to me, when I lower the clipping plane. Check that first.

Update on this issue.

After RMA'ing the video card and them sending me a new one I was still having the issue. I managed to get the tearing/artifacts to die down to the point that i rarely see them but they still show up every once and a while. I had to update my drivers to the very first version that was release for my 7970 8.951 3/8/2012. I've sent a few reports into amd but i doubt they will do anything about it.

maybe your card is dying because you're abusing it. / Using useless 6909x4932 texture resolution/window res on your 13 inches monitor. Like everybody else

It would be nice if SE re-code the game for pc users, because it sucks playing on non d9, frames 30 cap, no antilias support .ect, The game is a complete mess, because you still experience lower framerates even if you got the latest video card. Because it's a ps2 port.

Ffxi is a money making cow for them and Tanaka left a big cancer on it. They are just being lazy and greedy, giving users rehashed and recycled content like seekers of andouril expan.
