Most things you'd melee as RDM.

Depends more on mob level than it does the amount of DA you have.

I'm not a huge numbers kind of guy, tend to leave that to people who have a bit more time on their hands, but I'm almost positive, 5% crit hit rate beats 3% double attack on the neck. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me, but yeah. The damage taken on Rancor Collar is inconsequential, and if it matters at all, you probably shouldn't be meleeing on RDM.
I normally end up tanking on my RDM as it is now with my damage output from Almace, so damage take would kinda suck, also would really hurt in Dyna.
The +10% damage taken is an absolute no-no if you're solo'ing Abyssea MBs and what have you, otherwise Laffter is correct: +10% damage won't really stand in your way if you're "doing it right".
This is my current TP set, giving me 26/25% gear haste, 15 Subtle Blow and a 14-hit build (the greaves have 4 Subtle Blow and 5 Store TP). This set also gives you a 14-hit build with an Almace, so don't even start. And in the interest of dual-wielding, let's modify this set to give you a TP-building set. This seems to be the best balance between speed and potential damage output during your TP phase that I could come up with quickly (your greaves need to have at least +1 Store TP). You can alternatively replace the Zelus Tiara with a Khthonios Mask, and the Aketon with a Hedera Cotehardie to shave about a second off your TP building phase, but that's up to you (and your greaves would need at least +2 Store TP). Any other major modifications would change your damage output : speed ratio to something more lop-sided, but it really comes down to what you want. What would the optimal CDC build for rdm be these days?
Rdm got new gear recently? Think it's still something like:
Almace/Shikargar/x/Demonry Brego(Selenian still wins inside iirc)/Moepapa/Brutal/Moonshade Kudzu/Alucinor/Rajas/Thundersoul Rancorous/Wanion(cuch)/Tumbler/Lithe Thats my CDC set I made before that I am still aiming for. I typically had nefarious behind Moepapa outside. I'll check by how much in a bit.
EDIT: Approx ~1% ahead on fodder Should WS in Kudzu as well, beats Antares if you don't need accuracy.
Fencer's for TP if you keep HP in latent and WS on the dot. Yeah highly doubt I'll ever need accuracy on anything I'll ever melee on RDM :P
Downloaded the RDM spreadsheet and changed CDC set to this (going by DC dyna mobs, probably the hardest I'd ever melee on rdm these days)
Just kudzu and light earring that changed* But yay, go melee rdm! If I'll melee anything on RDM, probably gonna be some old 75 content for fun.
If I'm on RDM to be a RDM(whenever that would be), no way I have room for melee sets lol Wouldn't the +Att/STR from Dux Head/Dux Mail outweigh the dex/acc from Brego/Antares on most things(unless you're hurting for acc)?.
If you're meleeing on RDM then acc isn't an issue.
