Its a bit pricey with shipping, but, if you like art books, and you like FFXI, you'll like this book (it helps if you can read JP too obviously, but yeah)
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=NEOBK-1246153does the JP item code work with NA accounts? There is absolutely no restriction for any of the promotional codes ever released for FFXI. Any code will work on any account, period, so you can buy this book without any fear.
Thank you for this link by the way, I am now 72£ lighter.

idk about that, my jp friend who lives in tokyo, went to this years vanafest and got a code for a free in game item (think it was for their anni event) it's basically a free VW item. the guy who handed out the codes thought he was american and told him that the codes are for jp only accounts. so D:

That's a lie, people either have no idea, or simply try to keep it for their JP comrades. I used so many Japanese codes on my EU account, including the latest Vanafest in Japan (Athena's orb, Moogle cap), that it can only be false. I could even get a Maestro's baton, when it's probably one of the most JP onry thing.
The only existing restriction is time. It varies depending on the items/years, but most of the items have one. Main reason why I couldn't get a Moogle suit in time, the codes were invalid as of June 30th, midnight, among a few other things.
I tried to purchase a Nomad cap code at some point, only to find out it was out of date :(

Thanks for this! oddly enough the 1-3 day shipping is significantly cheaper then the 1-3 weeks ground method. what is this i don't even.
Do you know how HARD it is to drive across the pacific? I mean hell, no wonder air-mail is cheaper.

The book is completely in Japanese, a lot of it is artwork and concept art however, so it's still enjoyable. However, further later in the book, they have all the news/events for FFXI since 2002 listed, which is all in Japanese, and then Census data since 2002, also in Japanese. So, it's not all artwork, but yeah.

| | Hey gang!
Just got confirmation that things are still moving according to schedule (our "in July" time frame) and that prizes should hopefully start appearing in lucky adventurer's delivery boxes soon! I don't have an exact time for you for when it begins, but one thing to keep in mind is that prizes will be delivered in order, so it may take some time before all of the prizes are completely distributed.
We'll make sure to post once we have confirmed that all prizes are sent out! | |
The sneaky and stealthy goblins were able to infiltrate the FINAL FANTASY XI in-game item vaults and pilfer a ton of items right from under our noses... It turns out that it was all for a good cause because they are creating a variety of Golden Gobbiebags packed to the brim with goodies for some lucky adventurers to take home.
We have prepared a special survey based on the events and announcements of VanaFest 2012 to be posted after the event. By filling it out and answering the “Gobbie” question correctly you will be entered into a competition where you could win one of many Golden Gobbiebags, each exploding with a variety of rare in-game items!
How to Participate
Complete the VanaFest survey, answer the “Gobbie” question correctly, and you will be entered into a competition where you could win one of the Golden Gobbiebags below!
Participation Period:
Tuesday, June 26, 2012 to Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 11:59pm (PDT) (NA)
Tuesday, June 26, 2012 to Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at 7:59am (GMT) (EU)
Restrictions
Only one entry can be made per Square Enix account.
* Employees of Square Enix, Square Enix, Inc. and Square Enix, Ltd. and their relatives are forbidden from participating in the VanaFest 2012 Giveaway.
You will be ineligible if you do not meet the following requirements:
You must have completed migration of your PlayOnline ID to the Square Enix Account system.
You must have a PlayOnline ID linked to a Square Enix account. If you have not linked your PlayOnline ID with your Square Enix account or you do not have a Square Enix account, please read the details here and apply for the giveaway after completing the necessary procedures.
You must have a FINAL FANTASY XI Content ID.
*Players still in their free trial period will not be able to participate.
Please note that you will lose the right to obtain your prize if any of the following situations occur:
The character name or world name was incorrect at time of application.
The character receiving the prize was deleted.
You select “Return” for the prize delivered from the MHMU.
There are over 128 items in your delivery box.
You already possess the item.
Though thorough testing has been performed, in the case that you possess multiples of the same rare item, authority to claim the prize will be nulled and the item will be deleted.
Winning Entries
You must fill out the survey and correctly answer the “Gobbie” question included in the survey to be entered.
Selected winners will have their items automatically sent to the character listed during sign up.
The “Golden Gobbiebag I” winner will be selected from a combination of North America and Europe participants. All other winners will be selected by region.
