Death 15: Killed the Giant with a sword, but then swiftly died to the one with the club by falling off the edge into the water.
Death 16-19: Okay, area too difficult :) picked up a human effigy to restore my HP and left.

Death 20: Died to a long swordsman but the area seems more reasonable.

Death 21: Wanted to give this place a few more tries.

Forest of Fallen Giants
Death 34-35: Exploring the first part of the fortress.
Death 36-42: Fighting The Last Giant boss
Death 43-49: Exploring the two other areas of The Forest of Fallen Gaints, found the NPC Cale, found the boss The Pursuer, and found another bonfire deeper in. I actually ended up losing the 11k souls I earned from killing the boss The Last Giant (sad), so I farmed the 11k back at this bonfire. I still have to fight the Pursuer, doing that next. Also noteworthy, I beat The Last Giant with my morning star, without any upgrades. I have now gone back to Majula and upgraded it to +4.

Death 51&52: Deaths against The Pursuer.

The "Dragonrider"... unworthy of a boss HP bar.

Dropping my sign to help people kill Pursuer, so I can gather souls and manage it myself. >_>

These bosses are a bit easy, might of upgraded too far. I'll hold off until I need it.

When helping people for Pursuer, be wary of trigger happy Ballista users

Death 53 & 54: Both were from the high bleeding inflicting monsters that have 2 arms and walk around. Both times I had 2 of them on me at once, not a good spot to be in without stairs or a hallway x.x

Ok, I think I'm lost. I got to the 2nd bonfire in the Forest of Giants, got the key from that guy, and think I went everywhere, but am I missing something? Where am I supposed to go now?

Ok so Old Dragonslayer... holy hell I was jumping in my chair when I entered that room! I was like wait.. is that..? HELL YA THAT DEFINITELY IS HIM!

During my fight with him he just poked and stabbed, nothing unique.

During D's fight he spammed abyss magic and I'm like wtf D: I want a rematch!!! even tho I won...

Death 61: The group of 5 undead rushing me caught me off guard at the start.
Death 62-66: Fighting the Ruin Sentinels bosses... 3 of them.
Death 67: Ran off a ledge... lost 12k souls...*sigh*

Huntsman's Copse FYI, this was the beta test area
Death 68: Fell down in a pit with poison butterflies and a strong enemy, only 1k souls so left them behind
Death 69-77: Missed a jump :P I found out the correct way to get the shiny :< It's not my fault... I got it by jumping in the beta. ;_;

Belfry Luna
Death 78-86: bell tower guardians and a bell tower guardian invader :| Finally rang the bell D:
Death 87-102: Belfry Gargoyles fight
Death 103: Got tired of dying, switched to a physical resist 100% shield and then quickly goofed.

Dragonrider... don't laugh! Still getting used to the controls a bit but once I got that down he went down no problem. Made all my deaths to him seem silly, lol.

Ruin Sentinels are a pain.... only two strategies really work, if you can time your dodged then zerg them down, if you can't, take it slow and steady.

At least you get to fight 1 of the 3 alone before the other 2 join in to not make it a 3 vs 1 match :<

33,000 souls for a reward isn't bad though.

Belfry Gargoyles...

Little fact, the Dark Souls 1 beta / event issue was the undead parish and church, with the final boss being the Gargoyles of course!

Except they were named Belfry Gargoyles, not Bell Gargoyles.

I'm so glad to see the name used in Dark Souls II. But get this.

You fight 5 of them.

Five.

Now they don't come all out at once... but... they trigger based on % of the overall boss health bar. The first two are actually timed, the first spawns automatically and the second like a second or two later.

I'm so glad they used it here, perfect theme for it too.

Belfry Gargoyles defeated me a total of 17 times, 16 times with a shield that has 95% physical reduction, and only 1 time with a 100% physical reduction, and that 1 time I turned the wrong way and got hit from the back twice.

That 100% shield was at 100% durability when I started, and on the VERY LAST gargoyle, it started breaking when it was at 50%. When it was at 10% it broke. I did the only thing I could do, two hand my weapon, charge in, and hope I landed the hit before he did.

It was glorious.

I don't know if I could have managed to defeat it with the 95% shield, it would have been tough.

The gargoyle fight is very simple:

Two gargoyles spawn almost the same time, slightly different, then when you get 1 gargoyle down to 50% a third joins in.

That doesn't mean you can just get both gargoyles at 55% to save time either, because gargoyles spawn based on the overall health and spawn at certain intervals, and I believe those intervals would be... 90%, 70%, 50%...

Each gargoyle is obviously a total of 20%, since there are 5 gargoyles. So, once you get one down to 50 a 3rd spawns, and once you kill the one you're working on you're back down to two.

So you have 3 major hurtles to jump, once you kill the final 3rd gargoyle, you're left with only two, and that's easy to deal with,then you're only left with one, and then you've won.

Just make sure you don't hit any of the gargoyle statues, they will join in if you hit them.

I highly suggest anyone doing this fight try a 95% shield, it makes it so much more challenging and exciting having to manage your healing for each gargoyle. Once I put the 100% shield on I knew there was no way I'd lose, and then I did, but then I won :P

Also: 25k souls for winning, less than what the Ruin Sentinels gave... both were difficult battles, and if I would have stuck with a 100% shield from the start and wimped out! I probably would think otherwise, but I personally think gargoyles are more difficult.

if you leave like you are running back to the tutorial area but go in the cave with tree roots going out of it you will see what I am talking about

I haven't done that area yet <3

yeah it is blocked off by that statue :/ was wondering if anyone had gone there :(
