I know the principle of racial exclusion in of itself, over what the product of it is, is the most prominent aspect for this topic of discussion, but I have to say that the number of people who are completely basing their complaint on the notion of not being eligible for free *** (or the ability to buy item lottery tickets - however it works) is pretty astonishing (these people aren't exclusive to the forum, so I'm not singling anyone out). The irony is indeed overwhelming.
Expected: Why should certain people get the hardest to obtain items for real money? No one should be able to just buy them.

Funny cuz if I win bonanza I would get KKK or Ryunohige. It's a toss up between those two but pup is a heavy favorite as far as I'm concerned.

I would get PUP if I won a prize because I don't think I'd actually MAKE a mythic for Puppetmaster, but it would certainly be something I wouldn't mind having if it would just show up in my inventory.

I don't see an issue with there being a contest/raffle whatever with fabulous prizes that one would normally have to work for. That's kind of the point. Is it a slap in the face to their hardworking, paying customers if a car company gives away a car on a game show or in a contest? Of course not.
The region exclusivity does bother me though, and it would even if it were only available in my region. Of course, this is how SE rolls and we really shouldn't be surprised or too upset. We know who we're dealing with and yet we continue to deal with them.

Why is there really such a big deal about region exclusivity anyways? It would take a lot for SE to dump money on 2 seperate vanafests or 3 (1 for EU players). That cost has to be outweighed by what they project ticket sales/merch sales would be for that kind of event. Let's face it, I think that sort of convention has a bigger draw in Japan, than anywhere in Europe or in the USA. Especially if it was limited to Final Fantasy 11/14 only. Most anime conventions are anime/comics/art/videogames so at least they have broader audiences. I don't think vanafest is anything but FF. Not sure, never been to one personally, just an assumption.

couldnt care less about the vanafest itself, I can get whatever info they give out from the stream/coverage online and can get better food elsewhere. what concerns me is the exclusive lottery that seems to have at least DECENT chances of garnering a piece of at least quasi-good gear. they dont have to region lock that.
Also the fact that relics and mythics are possibilities. The emps can stay, theyre trivial.
Arent there supposed to be two regular Mog Bonanzas there too? Nomad Bonanzas or some ***.

Actually a few French got rank one. I know of two, one picked Mandau100M and bought his way up to Mandau (very first Bonanza), second picked Ninurta's sash, was back when Abyssea came out.

They really are, and judging by the fact that we didn't get any Bonanza since 1952, I would think that they started to follow laws IG too.

Truthfully, I wish they wouldn't do anything for uber items at fanfest. I myself, live in middle of the US and have no means to get to a fanfest, nor would I pay anymore real money for this game then I have. This is a horribly stupid move on SEs part, I am hoping they rethink this move.

Pretty sure they were all in California o_O
The one I went to was 2006 in Santa Monica.
2007 was Anaheim, CA (Disneyland) and 2008 was Hollywood.

I don't even currently have the means to acquire any of these items, legitimately, beside 85-90 empy's that I'm currently working on; and even I find this downright disheartening. Especially since only a purposely selected portion of the player base will have access to the chance.
