Ok I'm convinced, I do need a new game to play.
Whatever you do, do not. I repeat, do NOT get it for Playstation or PSN. The load times make that game unbearable. SNES or DS should be fine, but avoid any CD implementation of that.
They did a god awful job of porting it.

If you call the exclusion of anime stereotypes 0 depth, then yes.
Finding out Zidane and Vivi's origin was enticing to the player as well as watching Zidane slowly slip into self question and depression and then overcoming those through self growth and accepting who he is.
I wouldn't really call it "slowly". Unless after talking to everyone on Terra you decided to run around and do side quests. His "questioning himself" lasted for all of 15-30 minutes if you played through normally. Once his friends showed up to help him, it didn't take him long to snap out of it.
Quina had like no story. But I guess they were trying to make it mysterious. I didn't really get Amarant's motivation, either. The rest of them seemed to fit in well though. It's a good game, but Eikechi has a pretty solid point if you ask me.
I enjoyed Quina a lot. Mainly because "it" is a mysterios character that the developers wanted you to decide whether it was male or female and what was it's true intention was all along.

7-10-11
7-10 just had really good story lines. Topped off with the added effect of incredible graphics for their time, only made it better.
Once you have 356+ days in-game time, its kinda hard not to add 11 in their.

9 wasnt that bad. I enjoyed the fact that it actuly had an ending. After 7 and 8's uncertian endings, it was nice to see one with everything tied off.

Well i didnt say anything about ff1. The key word is nah which also means no so in this context when i wrote down the games i found most memorable and you say no that means its wrong or not the correct answer. Since this thread is all about that persons opinion on what they like it cant be wrong.
If you're going to pick apart words, how about using the word "most" and citing half the entire series. Again, I never mentioned anything about you being wrong in any way for your fave picks. Reading comprehension for the win.
I wasnt pickimg apart words you need to look up what the slang word nah actually means. 7 games is hardly half the series. 1-14 CC T TA TA2 DoC X-2 XIII-2 TWoR IV-after years dissidia 1/2 CC2 XIIRW probably missed some and thats 27 games intotal with the ff name

Square has always created games in aspects that were appreciated one way or another. All elements can be horrible, but maybe the music was great or vice versa. All of the games that i've played created by Square were really good in their own way(Except Ehrgeiz, Parasite Eve 2 & Unlimited Saga....oh God the horror of Unlimited Saga.) "Here at Square-Enix, we don't just create video games. We create art." Forgot who that quote was from, but Square seems to be on track with that quote. Maybe not so much lately, but the way FF13-2 turned out, i wanna say Square had a wake up call and went back to their roots on making great games.

I've been hearing a lot of god things about XIII-2, I might have to give it a try. Sounds like they fixed a lot of things I personally didn't like about XIII(too linear, horrid characters, no exploration until endgame), so if that's the case I might enjoy it...

I'm curious of this as well. Is it practically necessary to have played through all of XIII to be able to get into XIII-2? Or does it do a decent enough job catching you up and starting fresh?

FF 12 Reverent Wings (DS)
lol, your top 3 is...interesting.....
I played this one...it was a pretty good little game! handhelds are hard for me to get into..the only real hurdle is there is no 'run' button and it seemed like when it came out everybody was on the internet asking "how do I run!?" cause youre stuck on perpetual walking..urrg..took time to get used to.
I attribute my success in this game to my ffxi kiting abilities..I kited all the bosses like genbu.

FF13-2 was better than FF13..still had a crappy ending. I didn't play either though, my sister did and I watched the majority.
the characters are just..not memorable. Noel and Serah had far more chemistry together than Serah and Snow. Caius=worst dialogue ever.

FFT, specifically War of the Lions. For years, the original FFT was my all-time favorite game, but the additions they put into War of the Lions made it so much better for me. To this day, I still own my original PS1 FFT that I bought on the week it was released, as well as my original WotL UMD.
FFXI. My first, and so far, only online gaming experience. To this day, I still blame my sister for getting me hooked.
FFV. Though the story lacked a little in my opinion, i loved that one for much of the same reason I loved Tactics; the job class system. The variety and customization it offered outweighed the somewhat convoluted plot.

Seemed to me not having played XIII will have zero bearing on -2 save for lack of familiarity with the characters. IDK maybe i'm a freak but vs XIII i just can't choke down a session of -2. Between the moogle and Serah's annoying as *** self, not to mention them trying to bleed me dry on DLC to even get anything worth playing through for.
EDIT: I MIGHT consider it if they come up with a DLC story to get Fang back in my party.

@ Rayik
Lets just put it this way, dead smack at the start of the game, you can start doing side quests. The game is nothing but free roaming, and overall it is a very enjoyable experience. But, Square is gonna be Square lol, i say that because there were 2 things that sorta got under my skin. 1. The Hands of Time puzzles(kicks self in the forehead.) And 2. The Cie'th are much much worst in this game, mainly the sorta hidden ones.

Not being able to freely roam was a big detractor for me with XIII, so that sounds pretty cool about -2. If I find it somewhere cheap or I can borrow it from a friend, I'll give it a play and see.

I actually liked RW's storyline better than FFXII and the Internation ver. (Zodiac system), at least he's not shouting about wanting to be a skypirate over and over.
FFXIII-2 is about parse with FFXIII.... the game mech. is still PRETTY MUCH the same for me.... but I hated pretty much all chars but Fang in FFXIII so I vote for FFXIII-2, I disliked the English Voiceover of Vanille, the constant mentioned of wanting to be a Hero (worse than Tenzen), and the cliche of Sazh :/

I can barely handle Snow, however I think the 3 I mentioned is worse.... Lightning on the other hand, it's just like another Cloud but a little better in terms of less emo coming from her.... so yeah, I only like Fang... and I seriously feel that they don't really have an Antagonist in 13, or at least not descriptive enough to make it stand out like Seph. or Seymour..... even Garland does it better >.>

I thought the idea behind Garland was genius at the time; fighting the last boss of the game, as the first boss in an aged form. This was a higher standard of story depth that NES games back then didn't typically have.
I've seen that plot reused in other media, but for it's time it made for a pretty cool "last boss." But, in another game, as much as I love FIV, I thought the last boss was kind of lame...
Spoilered details you spend 90% of the game fighting one big bad guy, only to find out he's your brother, and out of left field this other guy comes in and is the "real" last boss. Felt really hollow. I would've loved a grand showdown with Goblez as the climax of the game, not random moon guy #3.

Snow probably had the best character design but had a horrible personality.
Lightening bothers me because she is the female Cloud..its too noticeable to overlook. The more I look at her, the more it bothers me. And then Serah's poor hair is ridiculously thin.
and the music! I know poor Nobuo deserves to have a happy retirement but part of the FF series is great music...we've not had memorable music in any of the recent FFs. I don't know who they've hired now, but it is not my taste or style. FF13 and 12 could have really benefited from a good instrumental or ballad. 8 was not my favorite FF game ever but boy did it have the best video game song ever that was Eyes on Me. Imagine how much better 13 would have seemed if it didn't have that annoying out-of-place jazz crap.
By Alaister 2012-05-23 11:55:23
1.) 13 (I was more in love with the characters and the environment was excellent!) Oh really? I don't care you haterz!!
2.) 11 (CoP, BEST STORYLINE EVER!)
3.) 12 (It reminds me of 11 because of the gameplay and you can freeroam all you want and do extra things even after the end boss)
