The Beast Within -- A Guide to Blue Mage
Used BLU on the new Kam fight and its really useful. Both flash spells work very nicely as well as paralyze from triad. Was taking like 100ish dmg from his melee hits with cocoon and - DT gear on. Only danger is Light blade if you aren't in -DT gear. Sudden Lunge works too. This was all on Normal, subbed ninja.
magic barrier didn't help to mitigate light blade?
It's useless because my WHM will just erase it with cureskin.
will update gearsets some time tonight, not very many things to change though
Hate light blade! hate it hate it hate it.. Went MNK/NIN hits me for 3752, throw on -PDT hits me for 3255. Makes me think /run is the way to go.
Just upgraded assimilator's charuqs +1 was curious about the opinion on manabyss pigaches with respect to MND+ and Requi? nvm, forgot about the attack and accuracy on assimilator boots, not really worth using the other ones. So is it technically better in any situation and just not worth the inventory due to it being marginal? Or is it just plain worse?

The former.

Flat out worse if attack or accuracy is uncapped. If attack is capped they're better by around 100 average damage. Given the things you normally take a BLU to, how often on current content are both accuracy AND attack capped? I haven't seen many solid stats on anything newer than Delve.
Only takes one of them being uncapped, depends entirely on what (de)buffs you have.
can the new unbridled learning spells from the naakuals in wildskeeper reives?

Just upgraded assimilator's charuqs +1 was curious about the opinion on manabyss pigaches with respect to MND+ and Requi? Hm that's odd, I only took around 900~1,200 from it. Maybe I had scherzo on I don't remember though. That was in full -DT. Were you using ilevel gear or things like arhats? You had scherzo if it did that little unless it was a shield block.
I was on BLU so no shield block, was using sherzo though just checked. I'd suggest having your brd put that on.
Valefor.Angelous said: » can the new unbridled learning spells from the naakuals in wildskeeper reives? yes Adjusted sets to incorporate new gear. To emphasize what you should be doing in terms of inventory space and power:inventory cost, however, I'll quote my opening to the armor sets section:
Quote: These sets can be confusing if taken only at face value. The sets labeled as "I" are the ideal sets for their respective role, therefor they work at their absolute optimal peak if used with every other piece of armor in that set. Sets II and III offer additional pieces of armor that can be used as substitutes for those in set I. While you can wear all of the armor in sets II and III, I advise mixing and matching the best available pieces to you while staying inside the bounds of stat caps. In some cases, a piece of armor may be only slightly better than another while only performing a small amount of functions; in these cases, I advise that you take into consideration your inventory space and choose whether you want the optimal performance from a certain slot for a certain action, or if you want to conserve inventory space at a slight cost to performance. So please, don't send me PMs saying "oh well you shouldn't list x piece of gear because it's only slightly better than y and takes more inventory". The purpose of the revised armor sets section is to display the ideal set of gear along with substitutes for each slot. I leave inventory management and decisions on which "tier" of piece to use in each slot based on range of functions, effectiveness, etc. to the reader. Offline

I understand that haste is capped at 26%, are there any other caps of which I should be aware? Sylph.Peldin

It will be easier to ask which stats do NOT have caps, lol
amadis said: » :o widbuffet tp build beats thurandaut chapeau now? +1 hands have a bit more than 5% haste, which made me recalculate. It comes out to thur and whirlpool sets being nearly the same overall dps, so there's no reason to carry around the extra hat and belt anymore. Accuracy and Attack are the most important ones since the probability of capping something like dDEX or fSTR in this day and age is pretty low. also, I need everyone to do something very important. by whatever means necessary, see that the based SE gods make Mirage Jubbah +5 amazing. I ask in the blue mage forum instead of the general forum because BLU has been and always will be what made this game fun for me. If I came back now, is the job still a valuable asset to a team and fun to play? Would working my way through Delve and Eminence and the other kajillion things on the way be worth it?
Edited just to show how far behind I am ItemSet 319158 It shouldnt be that hard really ive recently come back and my blu is decently geared just need to get some ilvl109/119 af for it. I would imagine theres still quite a few people still doing skirmish so should be pretty easy to get the gear. You then just need to focus on getting an Eminent Scimitar and the HQ sword off achuka and if your almace is lvl90 you can unlock CDC in WoE.

Anyone take out the fetters on blu in the Kam fight? Curious what spells was used thinking CW plus maybe one other AOE should make short work of em or a nuke. Thoughts?

Edited just to show how far behind I am ItemSet 319158 Eminence is probably the best way to start off. You can farm sparks anywhere and get very good gear from those rewards. I would prioritize that. I would also join any Wildskeeper Reive shout that you see. Even if you spend most of the time dead, you can get credit for those wins. Reja Ygridhi will reward you for beating certain WKR bosses for the first time (after you do a quest for her) and offer you a reward of your choice (check my link to her for the list of rewards). Also, once you've beaten all 6 WKR's (with the eminence quest activated for each), Eminent Flame will offer you a choice of different WKR rewards. This is probably the easiest way I can think of for you to get Eminent Scimitar and Xiutleato. In order to get the bayld to get in to WKRs, you will want to run Skirmish and/or do Frontline Support missions for the Courier's Guild. The easiest way to farm quick bayld is to make a Tier 1/1/1 Yorcia Simulcrum, enter, find the Noetic Ascension, and choose the Bayld reward. This will give you 5500 bayld and you can immediately exit and re-do this as many times as you want (as long as you have the money to keep buying the simulcrum segments). I hope that helps. Probably an obvious question, but are any of the 119 af pieces any good aside from body for our currently piss poor physical spells and being cutesy while idling, and the hands for tp as shown in the current sets? Everything else seems like a side-grade with a 3m price tag. (if anyone says monster correlation on the head I will slap you so super hard)
