Is punk dead?
I was mainly referring to the Green Day thing, btw.
I don't think punk is dead, Avril Lavigne still makes music.

Question: Are there very many new, good punk bands? Or are all the punks in your area just jocking the same, tired old bands that everybody was into 20+ years ago?
The influx of new blood is what spells out whether a scene is alive or dead. If nobody new is coming along to carry on the sound or do new things with it, you might as well be listening to 1920's big band music and calling it a scene. I don't know if punk exists today in the form that it existed back then. It kind of evolved into other things, and I wouldn't consider genres such as hardcore punk to be "punk".
Punk is more then dead at this point, I see alot of bands that try to recreate the genre but they do it so horribly that it's not even funny.
Gone is the day of good punk bands. I still remember the first time I ever talked to a "punk-chick" and she asked if I liked punk. I said I listened to Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, and Sum 41. We did not attempt to make babies.
have you met JEFF?
*edit* good punk music isn't found on the radio or on cd's. it's in shitty basements and ***hole clubs. and vinyl! |
