Considering the chain bonus is 2% extra EP up to chain 50, knowing that the kill timer caps out before you're even half way to the maximum chain EP bonus, figuring out what the required timer at the early part of the chain seems useless. Theres a 99% chance its not 30 seconds to go from chain 0 to chain 1. But it doesnt matter. If you're struggling to get to chain 10, either you need to adjust your party, or change camp. As mentioned, its a 2% EP bonus per chain level up to chain 50, for a 100% bonus. I could go through my logs and find other times this shitty party failed to hold chain below 25 and try to isolate where it caps out at 30 seconds, but its just not worth it.
Unless, you think I'm lying about what I exported from my chat log or losing chain at 25? Why would I lie about that???
you will run out of mobs because of repops in the majority of camps =/ I just ran a stopwatch:
Mob hits HP 0 > 15 seconds > mob depop > 60 seconds > mob spawns
Yes I was checking mob ID
You're not running out of mobs
Oh wait, maybe you are, cause you're on Asura.

It's definitely 30 seconds when it matters. There are effectively zero camps where you'll run out on small servers, almost all apex have a 60 second cooldown.
Just a nitpick, depop time doesn't matter, all spawns are processed in 30 second intervals on a timer set when the zone is first activated.
Mob1 dies at 12:00:00
Mob2 dies at 12:00:05
Mob3 dies at 12:00:10
respawns check at 12:00:07 - no mobs ready
respawns check at 12:00:37 - no mobs ready
respawns check at 12:01:07 - Mob1 and Mob2 spawn
respawns check at 12:01:37 - Mob3 spawns

I am really stupid. I want to unlock the ability to enter any Sheol: Gaol fight at V25. What's the way to do that with the fewest Mogophone IIs spent?
In other words, which of these can you do? Ordered from least effort to most, so you can give me the most concise answer possible :P
1) Clear - as a party member, not the entering person - Tier 1 V20, Tier 2 V20, Tier 3 V20, and Bumba V20.
2) Clear Tier 1 V25, Tier 2 V25, Tier 3 V25, Bumba V20.
3) Clear Tier 1 V15 -> V20, Tier 2 V15 -> V20, Tier 2 V15 -> V20, Bumba V15 -> V20.
4) Clear Tier 1 V0 -> V5 -> V10 -> V15 -> V20, then same for Tier 2, 3, and Bumba.
Pretty sure I don't have to do all the climb in 4. There's an old reddit post that suggests you can at least do 3. Can you just do 1 or 2? Does V25 unlock everything, as long as you do the tier climb and clear them ALL at V25? How about V20? And thanks. This system confuses me.

You have to have 4/4 T1 V25 cleared to access T2 V25 directly, all 6/6 T2 V25 to access T3 V25, and all T3 V25 to access T4 V25.

1) Clear - as a party member, not the entering person - Tier 1 V20, Tier 2 V20, Tier 3 V20, and Bumba V20.

I'm not sure what any of your 4 options are trying to say.
If you want to be able to take yourself into ANY V25 fight, regardless of tier, the absolute fastest way to do that is to have someone who already has access to a V20+ T1 fight bring you into and successfully kill a V20 or V25 T1 fight. You will then be able to pop V25 of that NM without any assistance. You can use this to "build a charge" if you fight that NM 3 times in a row, doing 5% of its HP per fight. This costs 1 Moglophone II.
If you want access to T2, T3, or T4 bosses it gets significantly more difficult.
It's really not a complex system, people just make it seem that way by giving long-winded explanations.
There are 4 tiers.
In order to pop an NM on a higher tier, you must have cleared all NMs in all lower tiers.
In order to pop an NM on a vengeance level, you must have cleared all NMs in all lower tiers on that vengeance level & that NM on the vengeance 5 below it.
That's the whole system.
Edit for clarity after reading your questions: you can skip all tiers, so long as someone else is capable of bringing you to the fights. If you clear a vengeance level for an NM, there's no need to go back and do any of the lower vengeance levels.
Using the information provided above then, if you want to be able to personally pop ANY NM on:
T1 it will cost you minimum 1 moglophone II
T2 it will cost you a minimum 5
T3 it will cost you a minimum 11
T4 it will cost you a minimum 17
This assumes you 1-shot all the NMs and have someone assisting you with bringing you into the fights. There are no pre-requisites required and you can do this straight from "never entered a single boss fight in Sheol: Gaol" right to V25 access from scratch, assuming you have a good group and someone has access to the fights.

I changed the power plan to never turn off the screen, need to idle a while to see if that makes a difference.

I think its not that hard to comprehend, but hard to accept that there isnt shortcuts to the top.
So people (myself included) keep asking to see if there is a miracle route to potential save dozens of tags, what dont seems possible.
Also, because in theory you can skip steps if someone carries you, but if you want to be the one carrying others, you get the short end of the stick

Quote: 2) Clear Tier 1 V25, Tier 2 V25, Tier 3 V25, Bumba V20.
This is the answer, if you assume you can get into those fights and win them. You cannot pop Bumba V25 unless you've cleared all T1-T3 V25s and Bumba V20.
Though, while you're daydreaming, may as well just count on a Bumba25 carry too so you can get Nyame R30. Realistically, unless you have very good friends and a great job spread you're probably not going to have an easy path through T3V25s.

I just described to you how you can get from V0 no clears to V25 Bumba in 17 moglophone IIs and you're saying there aren't shortcuts to the top? What am I missing here?
If the complaint is that nobody who already has all the V25 clears is willing to drag inexperienced, undergeared newbs straight from ambu gear to V25 clears then I'm sorry, that's not a failure to understand the system or a failing in the design of the system, that's just entitlement and laziness.

Honestly, it feels like the only reason I had any trouble understanding it is because half the posts about it on the Internet - responses to me included! - seem to conflate "is X possible with how Sheol works" and "is X doable for six people in Ambu +2 gear", but then they don't explicitly say they're doing that because it's obvious to them, and then people start talking past each other, and like I said, I'm very stupid.
Thank you for the replies all, it's actually crystal clear to me now. Getting it done will be another story :P

I literally answered the question directly, then was told it's hard to accept there aren't shortcuts, after I just typed the shortcuts in excruciating detail, 5 ways from Sunday. IDK, if you read my post and your takeaway was "there are no shortcuts" there's no helping you.

Of course the idiot whos never set foot in Gaol, let alone Odyssey, is chiming in about how the content works. Sit this one out boy.
Maletaru went a little above and beyond explaining why the answer is what it is, although he didnt specify which of the four answers was right. Thorny gave the direct answer, without explaining why. Sometimes guiding people to the answer is better than giving them the answer outright.
Judging by how OP listed 4 as an option, the explanation Maletaru offered was necessary as 4 should not even be an option, regardless if being carried or not. If you are being carried, you go right to V25/V20 Bumba, if you are not being carried you cant do "Clear Tier 1 V0 -> V5 -> V10 -> V15 -> V20, then same for Tier 2, 3, and Bumba."

I got confused because the man asked in bold letters how to access ANY NM at V25, but then went on to describe 4 paths which do nothing even remotely close to accessing ANY NM at V25.
Because of this, I completely ignored his 4 paths and answered his question.
He also said he was confused about how Ody progress worked, so I explained that in 3 very short sentences. Anyone who can read and process basic logic could solve all of their Odyssey-related questions.
Would you like to access Gigelorum V25? He's a T2, which means you must clear all T1s. You want V25, which means you must clear all T1s on V25 & you also must do Gigelorum on V20+.
Would you like to access Ongo V25? He's a T3, which means you must clear all T1s and T2. You want V25, which means you must clear all T1s and T2s on V25 & you also must do Ongo on V20+.
It's really, incredibly simple.
Here, I'll try to make sense of the 4 cases:
1) Clear - as a party member, not the entering person - Tier 1 V20, Tier 2 V20, Tier 3 V20, and Bumba V20.
-This requires 17 phones and gives V25 access to only T1.
2) Clear Tier 1 V25, Tier 2 V25, Tier 3 V25, Bumba V20.
-This requires 17 phones and gives V25 access to all
3) Clear Tier 1 V15 -> V20, Tier 2 V15 -> V20, Tier 2 V15 -> V20, Bumba V15 -> V20.
-This requires 34 phones and gives the same access as #1.
4) Clear Tier 1 V0 -> V5 -> V10 -> V15 -> V20, then same for Tier 2, 3, and Bumba.
-This requires 85 phones and gives the same access as #1.
I still don't understand what the point of this "paths" are except a misunderstanding of how the system works. They don't make any sense if you understand how Gaol works. Is the question "should I do more NMs to unlock the same augments?"

To answer the question "I want to be able to enter every V25 fight on my own":
You must get carried into and kill all tier 1 fights at V25 (4)
You must get carried into and kill all tier 2 fights at V25 (6)
You must get carried into and kill all tier 3 fights at V25 (6)
You must get carried into and kill Bumba at V20. (1)
This will grant access Bumba at V25 as you have all the previous V25 kills and a V20 Bumba kill. However, without killing Bumba at V25, you are limited to R25 Nyame, as Thorny said.
17 is also a theoretical minimum, as any loss will cost extra Moglophone II's, and I dont believe anyone will claim to have a 100% win rate on some of those fights at V25.

The question was "What is the most efficient way to get personal access to V25 Bumba?". He doesn't have the experience to know that only people unlocking this content normally, need to be concerned with 'paths'. Ironically, the correct answer wasn't a path.

Realistically, he's probably going to end up buying T1-T2 V25 wins, maybe Kalunga and Ngai, then buying V20 for the rest of T3 and Bumba. This will leave him with V20 bumba access, V25 T1-T3 access, and the ability to R30 some T3 gear.
It doesn't really matter what you consider a path, when the question is 'the least amount of moglophones' its pretty obvious he isn't planning on going through progression as a group.

3) Clear Tier 1 V15 -> V20, Tier 2 V15 -> V20, Tier 2 V15 -> V20, Bumba V15 -> V20.
This is a path.
2) Clear Tier 1 V25, Tier 2 V25, Tier 3 V25, Bumba V20.
This is not a path. So being carried into V25 is not a path, but clearing V15 -> V20 is a path.
Care to explain how the *** you enter V15 from V0 without being carried in?

I have had that happen, nothing consistent so far, but "idling" as you said (afk bazaaring isn’t a tos violation right?). I haven’t been able to pinpoint a timeframe, or if the game detect my kid is playing Roblox but yeah, it just D/c. XI is registered in the game mode, priority on internet…etc… but no port forwarding. Could be worth considering if it's not something specific to the game. XI is not very tolerant when it comes to connection hiccups, for instance. Without a DirectX proxy, it'll crash if a monitor connection changes. I know for me (and at least one other LS person at the time) CPU faults caused a *ton* of crashes - other apps weren't all super stable either, but XI crashes were frequent. Ryzen 7 3000 series for us, but the Intel 13/14th gen issues seem likely now too.

Seconding Isiolia's post. I would try dgvoodoo first if you aren't already using it(not all dx proxies solve the crash on d3d:reset). If it continues, and you're using a 13/14th gen intel cpu, it's unfortunately likely that your cpu is causing it and on the way out. Read up on the issue and consider a RMA.

For those of you that visit Bg you already know the premise of this thread but for those that don't, it's simple.
Quote: This thread is for off-the-cuff questions that don't merit a full topic to answer. 'What should I wear for my level 65 pup?' 'What's the best way to learn the Qutrub Blu spell?'
General Guidelines.
Any questions goes be it FFXI related or not this community has a plethora of people surely one will be able to assist you.
Please don't bash people for asking questions hating someone for seeking knowledge even if you deem it a stupid thing to ask makes you look like an even bigger tool.
If your answer is on the large side either providing a link or spoilering the answer might be a good idea to help reduce the thread size.
