This, though that's more to my playstyle than anything else. I'm a bit addicted to the MP pool and PLD just feels better to me. More self-sufficient, I guess. I hate being completely dependent on somebody else to stay alive.

Same goes for when I'm not tanking, obviously, except without the feel part. I'd much rather have a PLD keeping hate off me.

NIN will never replace PLD as a main tank, even if SE gives NIN a JA that could make them shoot an unlimited supply of throwing stars out the ***.

I think that might be what it takes, honestly, but SE won't do it. Seems like they want PLD to be the sole go-to tank and everything else they just support out of resignation to the playerbase's use of the job.

I don't hate NIN, don't get me wrong, it's just, ya know, when I have a PLD tank, when they take hate, they've *** got that ***. I could detonate a nuke behind the mob and they still have that ***. It's few and far between that I've been in a party with a PLD that couldn't hold hate...

NIN however, you *** breathe on the mob wrong and they're losing it. And then shadows go down and it's MP sponge time. I dunno, maybe I just coincidentally always get crappy *** NIN's and awesome PLD's or something...

depends on the player honestly. i never lost hate leveling nin or tanking at 75, if you're good at nin you can own a pld easily. although if you're good at pld, same deal, just easier to do on pld. both are awesome tanks that can own eachother, this update just seems gay to me.

Well, to me, it will always be PLD > WAR > MNK > SAM > NIN for tank jobs. I haven't played RDM yet, but from what I've heard, it can make a pretty decent mage tank.

Do you even know how long it's been since I've even heard of, let alone seen, a WAR or MNK tank??? LOL

rdm is pretty awesome, too. a rdm in my old ls named altrana use to out tank all the plds, even aegis plds as rdm. he was pretty sexy. sam is awesome too for certain things, i took sam to 75 just for that reason then rollback owned sam D:

I've seen good NIN once in a blue moon in EXP, and I'm aware of how well NIN/DRK can generate hate. Like you, though, I feel safer behind a PLD. There are generally more decent PLD than decent NIN out there and fewer crappy ones. The good and great ones are still hard to come by, but goddamn you can't get hate off them for anything... One of the best EXP parties I've had was PLD SAM SAM DRG BLM (me) RDM, low to mid 40s in the Nest. I flat-out could not get hate off that PLD without emptying my MP pool, with food and very good gear for the level. The melee weren't able to steal hate either. One of the SAMs and I even coordinated 2hrs to try and get hate off him... I stole hate long enough to get hit once. I still remember that PLD's name; he's half the reason I decided to try the job.

it's actual more frequent than you think, i use to tank hydra and whatnot as mnk for my old shell. didn't lose hate at all, i did have 6 sams TA gekkoing onto me, point is it's sexy.

MNK tanking in Salvage is pretty sexy too.
