  • Flashy Shot

    • Recast time will be reduced from twenty minutes to ten.
    • Additional merit points will no longer reduce recast time, but instead reduce enmity incurred by 20% per point.

Saw update notes saying SE was going to lower merit point abilities' recasts and make multiple merits in the abilities increase effect instead of recast--weeks ago!

Read notes and was not surprised.

...Oh, and read the DRK and PLD JA update details from the other day.

SE should change their company name to "We're-Doing-What-We-Said-We-Were-Doing-Enix" 'cause that's all they ever do.

My biggest gripe with Ranger is waiting on WSs when every other job can WS instantly at 100tp.

Yeah but with af2+2 augmented head now, you might as well 5/5 recycle for stp+50 when it procs 50% of the time, then 5/5 snapshot is a given.

Pointless update but whatever. The wording is interesting though; it seems like there's no point in stealth shot anymore (not that there ever was...).

It might be like the drk update though and it's just a % decrease of the % increase in enmity (like VZX says).

Should give RNG recycle as a job trait really (at the same potency as 5/5 merits). Otherwise there's really nothing else to merit in group 2 (snapshot is a given).

So this will be Stealth Shot with a longer recast, ignore lv. difference, and -100 enm.

That's not even a real change... does this count as our update? Do-over!

Edit: though it says "enmity incurred," I'm hoping they mean it will reset CE lol.

2nd thought edit: I mean, it's really potentially a nice JA now with the 0 enm generation, but I'm a little bitter that I already swapped from 5/5 flashy to 5/5 stealth like 6 mo. ago (not that 22 merits takes long to get).

Read the top part of my post that you quoted, the part where I say exactly what it does. I'll restate it actually: 10 min recast, 100% enmity reduction, ignores level difference. How is this impractical? You get to use it once per VW battle most likely. Do you even get to use something like sekkanoki more than once or twice per Qilin etc.? It's not the most amazing JA ever and it's ridiculous that two group 2 JAs are so similar, but they could have not changed it at all. Level difference is worthless when you're higher level, but when you're not, you could stand to ignore a large penalty, which is totally worthwhile.

Both JAs are useless for that very reason, stealth shot would actually be useful if it wasn't on a 5 minute recast, unless you plan on wsing every 5 minutes when the timer is up, it would have been better if they reduced the recast on stealth instead of flashy.

both are a waste of merits still. oh well.
