Even keeping in mind that the test server has a sort of cap on the amount of people that can play there at once ... -_-;

A little late, but.

I'm not entirely certain myself, but it seems as though an application for PC needs to be downloaded in order for controller recognition. The information was found here. Hope this helps.

I just transferred my account, only need to buy one add-on(Hopefully I'll do that tomorrow) then I'll be down for some 60s or 1v1s on the test server anytime.

If everything works out count me in Evviva.

As well as a Stream/videos for anyone who can't make it.

Lv60 Sync

Disclaimer: All credit goes to Roid from Siren.

♣♦♣♦♣♦♣♦♣♦♣♦♣♦♣♦

2010/08/14

Testing how an item level syncs to 60 is always a hassle. Thankfully, in courtesy of Roid, we have some general guidelines for level 60 syncs. These are the maximum stats that each item slot can attain at Lv60 from level sync. Defense varies by job. The only attribute missing from the list is evasion, as it is a lot more difficult to test.

A rank :
PLD WAR
B rank :
MNK THF RDM DRK BST RNG SAM NIN DRG BLU COR PUP DNC SCH
C rank :
WHM BLM BRD SMN

Weapon: HP+24 MP+24 stat+5 Atk+5 Acc+3 MAtk+10

Grip/Dual Weapon: HP+24 MP+24 stat+5 Atk+5 Acc+3 MAtk+10

Shield: DEF A14 B14 C9

Bow(slot): N/A

Throwing(slot): HP+3 MP+3 stat+1 Atk+3

Head: DEF A24 B21 C17 HP+10 MP+30 stat+2 Atk+3

Neck: DEF A5 B5 C5 stat+2

Ear: DEF A1 B1 C1 HP+15 MP+15 stat+1 Atk+4

Body: DEF A47 B42 C39 HP+15 MP+15 stat+3 Atk+7 Acc+7

Hand: DEF A16 B14 C11 HP+12 MP+12 stat+2 Atk+3 Acc+3

Ring: DEF A2 B2 C2 stat+3 Acc+4(or higher)

Back: DEF A8 B8 C5 MP+10 stat+2

Waist: DEF A4 B4 C4 HP+20 MP+20 stat+2 Acc+8

Legs: DEF A33 B30 C23 HP+10 MP+10 stat+2 Atk+2

Feet: DEF A14 B12 C9 HP+10 MP+10 stat+1 Acc+1

For clarification on how the varying defense values in regards to job ‘ranks’ work, here’s a brief example:

Askar zucchetto has the following stats at Lv75: DEF 23, STR+4, DEX+4, VIT+4, Haste+4%.

The maximum stats acquirable for Lv60 sync’ed head gear are: DEF A24 B21 C17, HP+10, MP+30, stat+2, Atk+3.

Therefore, Askar zucchetto at Lv60 would have the following stats: DEF A23 B21 C17, STR+2, DEX+2, VIT+2.

However, the defense value is dependent on job. If it is equipped by a ‘rank A’ job, such as PLD, the defense on the helm would be 23. On the other hand, equipping it with a ‘rank B’ job, such as DRG, would yield a defense of 21.

It works, but motionjoy is a pain in the *** to use. The important thing is to set up a custom configuration. Do NOT use the PS3 configuration! It will do the Z-axis stuff wrong.

The first four buttons should be 4/3/2/1, and the analog should be set up: Y Negative / X Positive / Y Positive / X Negative / Rz Negative / Z Positive / Rz Positive / Z Negative, and nothing on the Tilt settings.

In the end I just gave up and fixed my crappy Logitech controller. Its D-pad sucks, and there is no strain relief for the USB wire (it broke inside and I had to cut it off and re-solder it), but it still feels better than the wired 3rd party PS3 controller I was trying to use.

Really, I'd recommend one of those PS2 controller to USB adapter thingies if you can find one.

...and back on the main topic, unfortunately this won't give me the thing I really want, which is that last map. You have to have ballista points to get into private ballista to get the map, and this won't put the points on my main.

It is ridiculously unbalanced, but if there are like a LOT of people, then I guess it'd be fun...people like to go jobs that have an edge over other jobs. COR comes to mind...

I've been trying to get the test server up all day today, at this point I can get it to the accept screen in FFXI, but when I press the button the loading bar stops at "Setting up connection" and gives me an error:

Error Code: FFXI-3331
The game's data has been updated.
Please return to the PlayOnline FINAL FANTASY XI
top page and download the latest version.

I really want to join in, but I cannot figure this out... any ideas?

It took me roughly 3 hours to get everything organized, half an hour was copying files, rest was just idle time... it's a pretty savage process.. but it will be well worth it in the end!

The fact that it's still down is pretty silly lol

As if 60 really avoids the /same/ /problems/. (COUGH BLU, COUGH SAMURAI)

To say that its more or less of anything else is simply false.

More jobs get more tools to work with via magian weapons/resist gear options and scholar sub than they ever could at 60.

Its simply more removed from the rest of the game and a huge turnoff when people can't use their shinies to compete in a level cap event, where everyone hated level caps everywhere else and rejoiced when they were gone.

Go get your gear make your relics and come out, if you don't you don't want it as bad as the rest of us.

Actually, in 60 cap, BLU doesn't really do anything that's overpowered. Also, SAM's Sidewinder is pretty inaccurate and surely doesn't even almost kill you like so many of the WS's in uncapped.

You can't simply have all caps at the same level of balance, there is, without any doubt, going to be a jobs that will do better than others. How big the gap is between jobs affects the balance. The gap in 60 cap and uncapped can never be the same, it's just unrealistic. Therefore balance amongst caps is not constant; there will be some caps that are going to be more or less balanced.

It's true that capped battles are considered a turnoff. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to gear to the fullest potential and telling people to do so is unreasonable and impractical. With future updates, the introduction to even more gear at lv99 will broaden the selection of gear as well as tweeks in abilities and spells. However, at lv60, the variety remains as it is, regardless of future updates, and if there are gear or tweeks introduced at lower caps, they are hardly equivalent to those at lv99. Subsequently, gear will always have a larger impact at uncapped than at lv60 and also heavily affects the gap amongst players.

At 60 cap, you are going to depend more on your skill than on your gear. At uncapped, your gear and your skill will have as great an influence. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy uncapped as well, but I strongly believe that uncapped is much more unbalanced than 60 caps.
