Dual Boxing

I understand that you can dual box 2 characters on the PC by just simply opening up 2 windowers and logging in as normal, however the problem I have is having to ALT+ESC every time I want to choose a different character.

I've tried many ways to make it so I can see at least both screens at the same time but I don't want to mess up the way the game looks graphic wise, is there another way to do this or should I just update my Xbox and have a mule playing on that?

ALT+TAB?

Alt tab, or play in windowed mode where each character fits up roughly half the screen.
If you dual box long enough, you start getting a feel of where your mule is so long as you make a /follow macro and use blinkmenot, and alt tab is a very fast means of going from character to character. (If you don't have bmn on though, more often than not your mule just runs off into the void :( )

Thank you guys, also, when I do load 2 windowers only one of them runs in windowed mode. Is that meant to happen since 1 is already running or did I just make a mistake and not run as admin.

I use Switch Mon and it's frickin awesome. I saw an immediate increase in my efficiency.

I have 2 screens but I play both my games on the right screen so I can use the left as a resource. I use chatmon to capture needed information and make a noise to indicate things I need to see without being on there and mostly just flip over to cure buff or debuff. I hate alt-tab though. It throws your cursor everywhere and has too much delay and if you have other windows open you can accidentally open them rather than the game. Switchmon is really useful. I've never tried to use a keyboard button with switchmon but perhaps it might work. I think there are other programs that can switch game instances using a keyboard shortcut though.

If you have a monitor that's big enough, just set your resolution to something that can fit side by side and then you can see both at the same time, if you must.

I downloaded it and every time i try to run it, it wont load up. I'm just wonderin how u guys get that goin because thats something I'm really interested in using. Have windows 7, run as admin etc. I'm just not very comp saavy so its probably somethin small I'm overlooking.

Any specific error when you try to run it?

I use dual screens, and usually have FFXI windows on separate monitors. Switch Mon is still great because you don't have to alt+tab.

I load the program, then load both instances of FFXI, then I go back to switchmon, and tell it to refresh sources. It's always simply worked so I have had to do zero troubleshooting.

When I was duo I played my mule by making a lot of onevents that would respond to tells, then making /tell macros on main. no alt tabing needed.

Switchmon and multisend if you play on a single pc, /end.

Just says FFXI SwitchMon has stopped working, windows is searching for a solution to the problem. No code or any type of error message besides that

I have played with dual boxing on the same computer, tbh if you have the means to use another system to use for the secondary I would, I find that it has increased performance over trying to even alt+tab.

that's even with the means of multiple monitors, now if I had a way to bind input to each window separately it would be a different story, but I still haven't been able to get directx to work in virtualbox so...

Did you make sure to download the release with 64-bit support?

why alt+tab? just switch windows with the mouse >.>

Not sure if i downloaded the right one or not before, but i deleted it and redownload and installed it and its workin like a champ now. Can definately see this making my life a lot easier. Never used keyboard for playin, always controller and it was quite aggrevating dual boxing with a controller :x

Switchin windows with the mouse was the pain in the *** part about dual boxin on pc with a controller

I use free xpadder app and assign alt-tab on the screenshot button, Or w/e button u would like, works for me :)
