Versatility on BLU in VW

I'd argue that Almace is probably the strongest Empyrean weapon for a couple of reasons even, in the hands of a capable BLU, particularly with the advent of merit weaponskills.
Within the last two cap increases, Blue Mage has championed the absolute greatest increase in relative power in this game's history, outside of perhaps the 2h update. It's not a job to be taken lightly, hopefully in time people realize this.

It's a good job for sure, I won't argue that.
Do you mind posting your typical tp\ws sets for VW?
And what food do you usually eat?

Hopefully they don't realize that and we can avoid the bandwagon and nerf thereafter.

I'll unlazy and give this a go again, probably way more fun than pretending to be a whm, guess I can just stand back if there's lots of procs I gotta do <_>

Ignore NVs on all but T6 unless they're crucial to success for whatever reason, or if somehow you have 3/6 or more of them as blue magic.

Valefor.Prothescar said: »You shouldn't be setting any spells to deal damage. Spells are for traits only, which leaves you with enough room for 1-2 sets of elemental procs depending on which elements come up.
Chant du Cygne and melee DoT are BLU's only forms of damage in Voidwatch when you aren't standing back and using nukes on the couple of NMs that are better suited to that style.
The only time I stop swinging my swords and weaponskilling is to cast my proc spells, which takes under 20 seconds. It takes me no time to set my proc spells, usually I lose only about 10-20 TP.
I get that. What I mean is that if you're only setting 1-2 elements with spell set cooldown, it's rarely the one you set. With the length of the average VW fight, you're possibly getting one proc in. If it's EV, you could end up being the a-hole. I guess I'm just bitching that spell setting is a pain in the *** to cover on blu vs. the ease other jobs can do it for VW.
Everything Pro said. I've had a reasonably capable BLU for less than week and I'm aware of these things.
Thank you for bringing absolutely nothing to the table, as usual.

Hate dusk... can we use alucinor mitts instead and which is technically better on stuff like this?

I'm not seeing the issue with a reactive playstyle as far as setting procs here. You can't even set all elements if you focus exclusively on spells, a ~30 second average difference in BLU proc time is far less significant than the substantial gains in DPS.
And quit bandwagoning on Minjo.

Which offers nothing in terms of being against a DD BLU. It takes 90 seconds to hit an EV proc, at the most. That's the most critical proc that you'll ever have to hit on any job. HVs hold high priority for me as well, and unless you get unlucky and both are Blue Magic, they are not an issue either. NV procs are negligible in most cases and in the event that they are required, they still pose little issue to being able to maintain any ability to DD as a Blue Mage.
You lose absolutely nothing by having to reset spells. Traits don't dissapear for 60 seconds. If for some reason NV BLU procs are the difference between success and failure for your VW alliance, I suggest replacing the other proccers, as they are doing much worse of a job than that BLU is by actually hitting some of his or her procs.
Minjo offered plenty in his post, I see no problem with it.
As for Alucinor and Dusk, Dusk are the superior gloves. I see no reason not to wear them. You should already be swapping them out for serpentes to move from A to B.

Just how much better is 6 att vs 8 dex if you're not capping ddex? My autoset does swap me to serpentes for idle but I do move in and out occasionally as well as chase after mobs while engaged. Sure I can hit a macro to swap back but it's fairly aggravating to be slow at anytime.

I'd be willing to wager several million gil that you're capping dDEX on all but a possible 2-3 relevant VWNMs.
Considering ease to acquire, effectiveness, and ease of relieving the single negative quality of Dusk Gloves, I cannot tell people that Alucinor mitts are the superior option.

I'll admit that thanks to VW, I've been in the throes of an "identity crisis" of sorts. Over the past few years BLU has always been the job in which I took the most pride. It just felt like SE ruined one of my favorite jobs in the game by setting things up the way did with the triggers. I know it's a real monster with the right tools, but it's like "why bother?" when people only see you as a purveyor of exclamation points, almace or no almace.

You clung to the job when it was horribly sub-par and now that it's actually decent, nobody will take you seriously. Pointing people toward simple math should change the mind of anyone worth convincing, unless of course you're trying to stick with the "old ways" of Blue Mage.

The best way to play BLU, is to play it in a way that it wasn't originally intended to.
Not trying to start ***, just find that mildly amusing.

Does BLU have any viable way to use Nomkhapa and still cap haste?

If your best available body/head configuration has 8-9% haste (be it Mavi+2 x2, Loki's/Zelus, Mextli/Cuauhtli +1; basically a non-Toci's setup) then it's viable. They should be the best full-damage TP hands with Neo-Nyzul gear.

Currently no unless you're sporting mavi body or zelus tiara, but with the next update, they will be the ideal TP hands with the new haste body and 6% haste legs. Will also be able to drop haste feet in favor of the new DA feet for a total of 32% Double Attack, 11% Triple Attack, and 3% Quad Attack.

As for how I proc and melee, I keep all my DD traits on fulltime for the most part and keep 18 magic points open for when an EV or HQ is called. And yes I agree that if your group is in dire need of NQ procs then something is very wrong. As for when there are an overwhelming amount of procs needed and the current DD can suffice I can pullback and go full proc mode for a while, but I have my spells arranged so that when I can go back to DDing I can set them very fast mid battle again.
Here are some old kaggen parses. I believe I was buffed, but I didnt have Toci's nor any Athos's at that time
I will try to start recording some of my fights soon.

I sub WHM for *** beetle when I'm not in the mood of DDing
Anyone having success with their BLU when they have nothing to proc or are there for placebo effect? I for sure am doing my best to make the most out of something alot of people write off and hopefully people will learn that one of the most versatile jobs in the game can also excel if effort is put into it.
So please do post how you go about what you can do and how you go about it, and hopefully this job would get shined in a better light. :D
From a DD perspective this would be a small sample parse from a qilin to kinda try to get this thread started.
Current situation is im stuck in the mage party so only buffs I have is /war, red curry bun, and temps. The WARx2, DRK (Goodjuice), and MNK are in the COR party if I recall correctly.
Here are my current TP and WS sets
TP:
NOTE: Almace is currently at lvl 85, and Shikargar is STR path.
WS:
Please contribute if you can, and give advice or gear tips for the sake of improvement.
Thanks for reading!
